A mix of showers and cloud cover is sweeping across parts of the Northeast, with light rain currently observed near Pittsburgh and extending into areas just south of Scranton. Buffalo and Syracuse are experiencing spotty rain, while clear skies dominate farther east towards Albany and Boston. Light rain showers are brushing regions near Philadelphia, gradually pushing towards New York. Washington remains mostly dry, with conditions expected to remain calm for most of the day.
Temperatures this afternoon in New York City will reach up to 87 degrees by 4 PM with partly cloudy skies. As the evening approaches, expect mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures gradually cooling to 83 degrees by 8 PM. A light southwest wind at 5 miles per hour will keep the air feeling pleasant throughout the afternoon and evening.
Today’s high temperatures in the Northeast are reaching impressive levels. New York City will see a high of 88 degrees, while Philadelphia is hitting a warm 90. Scranton also experiences warm weather today at 86 degrees. Buffalo will enjoy a high of 82 degrees, making it a pleasant day for outdoor activities. Boston cools down a bit with a high of 83 degrees, showcasing a notable contrast in temperatures across the region.
Tonight, Boston will see a low of 67 degrees, while Portland cools down to 71. New York City remains warmer at 81 degrees, but expect a drop to 74 in Albany. Scranton is set to reach a low of 73 degrees, and Pittsburgh will settle at 74.
Tomorrow in the Northeast, temperatures are soaring with New York hitting 87 degrees and Philadelphia peaking at an intense 88 degrees. a record setting heatwave for some locations.
Sunday the dew points climb into the upper 60s
and lower 70s. As the ridge axis approaches the area on Sunday,
heights aloft will continue to increase resulting in generally
warmer air aloft. This should mix down enough to allow surface
temperatures to climb into the 90s for much of the area. Some of
the hottest spots near the NYC metro may approach 100 degrees.
The UV index in New York City will be very high at 9 on Saturday, with a quick burn time of about 15 minutes in direct sunlight. Sunday’s UV index is still high at 8, suggesting a burn time of 17 minutes.
