Ely remains dry under clear conditions, while scattered clouds are covering the skies over San Francisco. The area stretching from Salt Lake City through Cedar City and down to Las Vegas is experiencing clear and dry conditions. Likewise, the skies over Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix remain calm, with no significant weather activity observed at this time.
In Los Angeles, the afternoon temperatures will reach 68 degrees with a steady wind from the south-southwest at 8 to 11 miles per hour. Expect partly cloudy skies at 4 PM, transitioning to mostly sunny by 6 PM. By 8 PM, skies will clear to a bright, sunny outlook as temperatures slightly drop to 67 degrees.
High temperatures in the Southwest are heating up today. Phoenix is scorching with a high of 106 degrees, while Las Vegas follows suit at 97 degrees. In contrast, coastal areas like San Diego are enjoying a milder 68 degrees. Farther north, Bakersfield and Fresno are both warming up to 82 degrees. San Francisco brings a cooler breeze with a high of 70 degrees, offering a nice respite from the heat inland.
Tonight, Las Vegas will see a low of 69 degrees, while the temperature in Bakersfield will drop to 61. Expect cooler conditions in Flagstaff, with a chilly low of 44 degrees. Ely will experience the most significant drop, reaching just 34 degrees.
Tomorrow, Phoenix will reach a sizzling high of 100 degrees, significantly above average for this time of year. Las Vegas is expected to see a warm high of 93 degrees, as temperatures trend above normal due to a ridge of high pressure in the region. In California, Fresno and Bakersfield are both set for a high of 88 degrees, while Los Angeles will be milder at 73 degrees. San Francisco will remain cooler at 69 degrees, staying below average as coastal breezes influence the temperatures. Redding is also feeling the heat with a high of 88 degrees, highlighting a broader warming trend across the Southwest.
A warm and dry pattern continues through the Southwest tomorrow, with high temperatures reaching well into the 90s for desert regions. Coastal areas of Southern California might experience increased cloud cover and lighter winds, but no significant rainfall is expected. A high-pressure system ensures mostly clear skies, maintaining these conditions into the next day. For northern regions of the Southwest, afternoon thunderstorms could pop up, particularly in elevated areas due to localized heating.
