As you step further into the night, expect some scattered thunderstorms, but don’t worry, clear skies will prevail by Sunday. A line of precipitation is moving across the northeastern region, with Boston and Portland experiencing light to moderate rain showers. Rain extends southeastward towards the coast, affecting areas east of Syracuse while cloud cover is evident over Albany. Clear conditions prevail over New York City and Philadelphia, bringing a period of relief there. Washington remains dry, under mostly clear skies as storms continue to push away toward the Atlantic.
This evening in New York City, temperatures will be mild, starting at 79 degrees at 9 PM and gently settling to 78 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will shift slightly from the south-southwest at 4 miles per hour to the west-southwest at 6 miles per hour. Expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms moving in around 11 PM.
Tonight, Buffalo will see a low of 69 degrees, while Syracuse cools down to 65. Albany is expected to reach 61 degrees, and Boston will drop to 66. New York City is projected to have a low of 72 degrees, remaining quite mild for this time of year.
Tomorrow in the Northeast, temperatures will soar, with New York reaching a high of 92 degrees. Philadelphia is expected to match that with another 92-degree high, while Washington, D.C., sees warm conditions hitting 90 degrees. Farther north, Boston will be warm at 87 degrees, and Buffalo enjoys a high of 81. Temperatures across the region are trending well above average, influenced by a powerful ridge of high pressure bringing summer-like warmth.
A cold front is set to approach the Northeast, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia late Saturday evening. Expect heavy rain and gusty winds in these areas, with rainfall totals potentially exceeding an inch by Sunday morning. Albany, Boston, and New York City could see showers continue through Sunday, while severe weather risks remain low. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly following the front, leading to a cooler, drier start to the workweek.
