As Atlanta wakes to partly cloudy skies tomorrow, the day promises more than just a typical sunny start. Expect rising temperatures and regional calm, but also prepare as the Southeast braces for stormy afternoons with severe weather threats. Our comprehensive guide covers everything from daily forecasts to safety advice under high UV conditions.
On the Regional Radar, the Southeast is generally calm with clear skies overall, but Jacksonville is experiencing a cluster of showers off the coast. Savannah could see cloud cover increasing as the rain moves closer. The rest of the region, including cities like Atlanta, Montgomery, and Shreveport, remains dry under a clear sky. Overall, it’s a pleasant setup for much of the Southeast today.
Tomorrow morning in Atlanta kicks off with mostly sunny skies at 8 AM and a temperature of 75 degrees. Winds will be from the west at 4 miles per hour. By 10 AM, the temperature rises to 81 degrees under sunny skies with a west-northwest wind at 6 miles per hour. Partial cloud cover comes in by noon with temperatures reaching 85 degrees, and the wind remains west-northwest at 6 miles per hour.
Tomorrow in the Southeast, temperatures will climb significantly. Atlanta is expected to reach a high of 91 degrees, while Nashville will see a warm 93. Montgomery is forecasted for a balmy high of 94 degrees, and Jacksonville is also hitting 94. In New Orleans, temperatures will peak at 90 degrees, which is slightly below average for this time of year, but still warm for summer. Overall, the region is experiencing a notable heat wave influenced by high-pressure systems settling in.
Expect a dynamic weather pattern across the Southeast tomorrow as a front pushes through early in the day. From New Orleans to Montgomery, look for thunderstorms, some of which could be severe with damaging winds and heavy downpours. Atlanta sees increased storm activity during the morning commute. By afternoon, rain showers extend from Jacksonville to Savannah, potentially causing localized flooding in areas receiving heavy rainfall. In the wake of the storms, cooler and drier air filters in through the evening, offering some relief as we head into the weekend.
Atlanta is bracing for a very high UV index of 10 on Friday, with potential skin damage occurring in just about 12 minutes of sun exposure. On Saturday, the UV index remains at 10, requiring the same caution when outdoors, as sunburn can also occur in approximately 12 minutes. Remember to wear sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect yourself under these intense rays!
