On the northern fringe, Salt Lake City is partly cloudy.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will hold steady in the upper 70s, reaching 77 degrees by 4 PM. Expect clear skies with ample sunshine throughout the afternoon. Winds will be coming from the south-southwest, around 7 to 9 miles per hour, bringing a gentle breeze to the area. A sunny and pleasant day is on the forecast, perfect for outdoor activities.
Today in the Southwest region, temperatures are soaring. Phoenix is hitting a sweltering 106 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the nation. Las Vegas isn’t far behind, with a high of 101 degrees under clear skies. Meanwhile, Flagstaff offers a cooler contrast at 81 degrees, providing some relief from the intense heat. Over in Bakersfield, expect a warm afternoon with highs around 92 degrees, while Los Angeles stays mild at 79.
Tonight, temperatures will dip to 48 degrees in Flagstaff, while Las Vegas will experience a milder low of 73. San Francisco is forecasted to cool down to 57 degrees, with Fresno slightly warmer at 60. Expect a comfortable 63 degrees in San Diego, making it one of the warmer spots in the Southwest region tonight.
Tomorrow in Phoenix, expect a sizzling high of 108 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will experience a warm day with highs reaching 102 degrees, showcasing consistent summer heat. In Bakersfield, temperatures climb to 90 degrees, while Fresno is slightly cooler at 89 degrees. Los Angeles will hit a comfortable 76 degrees, providing relief compared to the inland areas. Meanwhile, San Francisco stays cooler at 64 degrees, influenced by coastal breezes.
A cold front is ushering cooler temperatures across Arizona and New Mexico, with highs dropping into the mid-80s for Friday. Expect scattered showers extending from Phoenix to Albuquerque, with a chance of thunderstorms, especially in the late afternoon. Strong winds could accompany storms, leading to hazardous travel conditions in open areas and mountain passes. Dry and clear skies will prevail in Las Vegas and Southern California, where temperatures continue to hover in the low 90s. Stay cautious of flash flooding in desert regions due to sudden downpours.
