In the Midwest today, the regional radar paints an active weather picture. Storms are rolling through, heading eastward from St. Louis toward Indianapolis, bringing rain and potential thunderstorm activity along their path. Peoria is seeing consistent rain showers. Over in Fort Wayne and extending through Columbus, expect moderate rainfall to continue. Farther northeast, Cleveland is under persistent cloud cover with rainfall tapering off. Meanwhile, locations farther north, like Detroit and Saginaw, endure light rain amidst broader cloud cover. Coastal areas like Charleston remain relatively calm.
For tomorrow morning in Chicago, expect a cloudy start with temperatures rising from 58 degrees at 7 a.m. to 63 degrees by 11 a.m. Winds will be from the south, starting at 10 miles per hour and increasing slightly to 12 miles per hour as the morning progresses.
High temperatures across the Midwest on Sunday will present a mix of mild readings. Expect St. Louis to reach a comfortable 71 degrees, while nearby Peoria will also enjoy 67 degrees. Springfield is set for a slightly cooler high of 64 degrees. Heading east, Indianapolis is expected to top out at 72 degrees and Louisville will match that with another 72-degree high. In Kentucky, Bowling Green can anticipate a warmer 75 degrees, while Charleston, West Virginia, will also see similar warmth at 75 degrees. Notably, Kansas City will be on the chilly side with only 49 degrees, clearly o the cold side of the front.
“Tomorrow’s forecast for the Midwest outlines a diverse weather scenario. Expect rain showers throughout much of the region, including Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville, with rain intensifying as it moves east. A band of heavier rain is likely, particularly from Detroit to Columbus, leading to potential localized flooding. Temperatures will trend cooler with highs in the 50s and 60sF across the region. Keep an eye on those winds as they pick up with the passage of this system. Storms in the farther eastern areas, notably Cleveland, could bring gusty winds and thunderstorms.”
The UV index in Chicago on Saturday will be moderate at 4, indicating a potential burn time of 35 minutes in direct sunlight. However, cloud cover and rain are expected, which will limit sun exposure. On Sunday, the UV index drops to 3, with thunderstorms further reducing any exposure risks.
