The regional radar shows that a band of rain is advancing into Pennsylvania and New Jersey, extending towards New York City, where showers are expected to intensify later today. Washington D.C. is currently experiencing moderate rainfall with heavier pockets seen just southwest, signaling that these showers will continue their eastward march. Farther north, the radar is picking up some snow in the northern areas of New York and into parts of Vermont and New Hampshire. Syracuse finds itself under cloud cover with light precipitation, while Albany is gearing up for a wintry mix as snow transitions to rain. Boston appears mostly dry for now, but expect an increase in cloud cover as the system approaches from the west. Portland, Maine, is already seeing some snowfall, contributing to a wintry landscape. In the west, Pittsburgh and Buffalo are mostly clear from precipitation at the moment but remain cloudy, with the chance for rain expected to develop as the evening progresses.
In New York City, the afternoon forecast shows temperatures holding steady around 48 degrees. Expect a northeast wind at 8 miles per hour, accompanying cloudy skies with intermittent showers.
In the northern tier, Buffalo is experiencing a cool high of 41 degrees, while Syracuse reaches a slightly warmer 44. Downstate, Scranton also sees a high of 44 degrees. Philadelphia is a bit milder today at 47 degrees, while New York City edges up to 49. Heading east, Boston is at 45 degrees and Portland is slightly cooler with a high of 42. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh manages to reach 48 degrees, and Washington, D.C., brings in the highest temperature among major cities in the region at 50 degrees.
