On the Regional Radar, storms are sweeping through the Southeast, with significant activity along the Florida peninsula, including Tampa and Miami, braced for severe conditions. Rain is widespread across Georgia, particularly hitting Atlanta, and extending into the Carolinas up through Charlotte. Cloud cover is noticeable over much of Alabama. Montgomery is already getting a dose of rain showers. Jacksonville is seeing stronger storms, with precipitation marching northeastward. From Jackson to New Orleans, clearing skies provide a respite from earlier showers, while Houston enjoys dry, yet cloudy skies.
Atlanta this afternoon will see temperatures around 75 degrees, transitioning to 74 degrees by 6 PM, and settling at 70 degrees by 8 PM. The sky will start out cloudy with showers developing later in the afternoon. Winds will maintain a steady south-southeast flow at around 9 miles per hour, slightly easing up in the evening. Keep an eye out for those showers to develop, offering a refreshing change to the clouds.
Today in Atlanta, we’re looking at a high of 76 degrees, while farther south in Jacksonville, it’s much warmer at 80 degrees. New Orleans will see a pleasant high of 78 degrees, giving a taste of spring. Meanwhile, in the Florida sunshine, Tampa is expected to reach 82 degrees, with Miami also hitting 80 degrees under similar warm conditions. Up in Charlotte, however, it’s a cooler day with a high of just 69 degrees.
Tonight in the Southeast, low temperatures are set to dip, bringing a crisp start to the morning. Expect 62 degrees in Atlanta and Nashville, while Memphis will see a chillier 62 as well. Jackson and Montgomery are forecasting lows of 66 and 64, respectively. Farther south, New Orleans will remain mild at 72 degrees, but expect a cool 66 in Jacksonville. Tampa and Miami will hold steady with lows of 71 degrees.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will experience significantly above-average temperatures. Atlanta is expected to reach a high of 76 degrees. New Orleans will see warm conditions with a high of 85 degrees, and both Jacksonville and Miami will also reach 86 degrees. Houston is heating up to 94 degrees, showcasing a trend of warmer temperatures across the region.
A cold front is making its way across the Southeast, bringing scattered thunderstorms from New Orleans to Atlanta by tomorrow morning. Expect heavy rain and possible localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas, with rainfall totals reaching over an inch in some places. Temperatures will drop slightly behind the front, offering cooler but still comfortable conditions in areas like Charlotte and Jacksonville. Be prepared for thunderstorms around Tampa and Savannah, with a moderate risk for some storms to turn severe, featuring strong gusty winds.
