In the Southwest, we’re seeing a few weather systems in action. Light snow is impacting areas near Salt Lake City and extending into Ely. California is experiencing rain showers primarily along the northern regions, especially near Redding. Light rain is also affecting parts of Fresno and extending towards Bakersfield. Elsewhere, cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Diego maintain dry conditions with clear skies.
This evening in Phoenix, enjoy mostly sunny skies turning clear by nightfall. Temperatures start at 86 degrees at 9 PM, cooling to 79 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will shift from the west-southwest at 17 miles per hour down to 8 miles per hour.
Tonight in the Southwest, temperatures are set to drop significantly. Ely, Nevada, will feel the chill with a low of just 29 degrees—one of the coldest spots in the region. Flagstaff, Arizona, also joins the freeze club at 29 degrees. Farther south, Las Vegas will see a milder low of 60 degrees, while Los Angeles remains comfortable at 53.
High temperatures in Las Vegas are expected at 81 degrees. In Southern California, Bakersfield and Fresno are also both expected to hit 81 degrees, and Los Angeles will reach 69 degrees. San Diego will have a pleasant day with a high of 70 degrees. San Francisco will be cooler at 66 degrees.
A low-pressure system intensifies over the Southwest, with the possibility of severe weather Tuesday into Thursday. Expect scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain in Southern California, extending into Arizona and New Mexico by the afternoon. Snowfall is possible in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Temperatures will dip below normal as a cold front sweeps through, bringing cooler conditions. Stay alert for potential flooding in low-lying areas.
The UV index in Phoenix will soar to an extreme level of 10 on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a burn time of just 12 minutes if you’re out in the sun.
