The Southern Plains are experiencing quiet conditions with light precipitation across the region. Some rain is seen moving through southeastern Mississippi and into Alabama, providing wet conditions around Jackson. Meanwhile, Kansas City, Little Rock, and Oklahoma City are enjoying clear skies, contributing to pleasant weather in those areas. Clouds are just starting to develop near Albuquerque, indicating potential changes ahead for parts of New Mexico. The Texas Gulf Coast cities like Corpus Christi and San Antonio remain dry, offering a warm spring day in those areas.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin will climb to 100 degrees by 6 PM under sunny skies. Winds are coming from the south-southwest at 12 miles per hour, dropping to 9 miles per hour by 8 PM. Expect mostly sunny conditions with a slight cloud cover at 4 PM. Keep cool as temperatures remain high throughout the afternoon.
Today’s regional high temperatures in the Southern Plains are making headlines. San Antonio is feeling quite toasty, reaching a high of 105 degrees. Just a bit north, in Dallas, expect a high of 95 degrees, while Midland sees temperatures soar to 100 degrees this afternoon. Meanwhile, in Houston, temperatures will be slightly cooler, settling at 93 degrees. Over in El Paso, we’re looking at a high of 95 degrees. Little Rock checks in with a pleasant 86 degrees, contrasting sharply with the Texas heat.
Tonight, temperatures in the Southern Plains are dropping significantly, with colder air moving in. Oklahoma City will see a low of 68 degrees, while Dallas cools to 75. In Texas, Midland is forecast to reach 71, and El Paso will drop to 65. Further east, Jackson is expected to fall to 69, while Little Rock will round out the night at 73.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow are expected to soar above average. San Antonio leads the charge with a sizzling 106 degrees. Midland warms up to 100 degrees, while El Paso settles at 90 degrees. In Dallas, temperatures will reach 102 degrees, which is notably higher than typical for this time of year. Corpus Christi and New Orleans will experience highs around 92 and 87 degrees, respectively, as warmer air streams into the region.
A cold front is forecasted to move across the Southern Plains, bringing thunderstorms from Dallas to Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Expect rain beginning early in the day, with a potential for severe storms later in Oklahoma and northern Texas.
