Rainfall is concentrated near Jackson, with showers tracking northeast into Mississippi. Down in Texas, cities like Midland and El Paso enjoy a sunny break from wet weather, as do areas around San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Small clusters of storms and scattered clouds are poised over northern Oklahoma, slowly moving towards Kansas City. Over in the southwest, a few showers are brushing past Albuquerque.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin are sweltering, peaking at 100 degrees and climbing to 101 by 6 PM. Sunshine dominates the early afternoon with a south wind at 8 miles per hour providing minimal relief. By 8 PM, temperatures slightly dip to 97 degrees with partly cloudy skies and the wind shifting to south-southeast at 10 miles per hour.
Today in the Southern Plains, we’re looking at some sizzling temperatures. In San Antonio, we’ll see a high of 106 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Dallas isn’t far behind with a high of 101, while Midland reaches 99 degrees. El Paso will also be warm at 90 degrees. Areas like Jackson and New Orleans both hit 88 degrees.
Tonight, Oklahoma City will see a low of 61 degrees, while Dallas cools down to 74. Little Rock is expected to reach 73 degrees, and Jackson will settle at 74. In contrast, San Antonio will have a balmy low of 76, and Corpus Christi remains warm at 78.
Tomorrow San Antonio will reach a sweltering 103 degrees, while Dallas is projected to hit 90 degrees. Midland is also warm at 92 degrees, and El Paso follows closely with a high of 88 degrees. Oklahoma City will experience a comfortable 82 degrees, and Little Rock can expect a high of 87 degrees. Corpus Christi is forecasted to warm up to 93 degrees, contributing to a significant warming trend across the region.
The Southern Plains region is bracing for an active weather day with a series of storms from Dallas to Corpus Christi, bringing essential moisture. Oklahoma City should prepare for potential strong storms due to an unstable air mass. An approaching cold front will increase the threat of severe weather, including heavy rain and gusty winds, especially in southeastern areas. Be alert for severe weather warnings extending from Texas into Arkansas and Louisiana, with potential impacts over the next 24 to 48 hours. After the front passes, cooler and drier conditions will sweep through the area.
