Over the Southeast, a band of rain showers is sweeping from western Tennessee toward Northern Mississippi. Memphis is currently under heavy rain which is gradually heading towards northern Alabama. Scattered showers are also visible near Jackson, edging eastward to Montgomery. The Gulf Coast, including New Orleans, is experiencing dry conditions, while clouds continue their march east. Coastal cities like Jacksonville and Miami are enjoying clear skies, perfect for outdoor activities.
Atlanta’s morning forecast starts at 8 AM with scattered thunderstorms and temperatures around 73 degrees, accompanied by winds from the west-southwest at 9 miles per hour. By 10 AM, expect cloudy skies as temperatures rise slightly to 75 degrees, with winds increasing to 11 miles per hour from the west-southwest. Heading towards noon, mostly cloudy conditions will prevail with temperatures reaching 79 degrees, and winds shifting to 12 miles per hour from the west.
High temperatures in the Southeast are set to soar above average tomorrow. Miami will reach 89 degrees, while Tampa warms up to a scorching 92. Jacksonville is expecting a high of 97, marking one of the hottest spots in the region. Farther inland, Atlanta will top out at 86 degrees, and Montgomery will see highs around 88. Shreveport and New Orleans are also on the warm side with expected highs of 91 and 89 degrees, respectively, influenced by a strong ridge of high pressure.
A line of storms stretches from Shreveport to New Orleans, bringing showers and possible thunderstorms as it moves eastward. By tomorrow morning, this system is expected to reach Jackson and Montgomery, with potential for heavy rain and gusty winds. Stay alert for any severe thunderstorm warnings, especially in these areas. The front may reach Charlotte by late afternoon, prompting a cooler and drier trend heading into the weekend. Tampa and Miami will likely remain dry with warm temperatures continuing.
The UV index in Atlanta on Friday is moderately high at 6, with a burn time of approximately 23 minutes in direct sunlight. As we move into Saturday, the index climbs to a very high level of 9, significantly reducing burn time to just 15 minutes.
