A line of thunderstorms is moving across the Southeast, with severe weather currently impacting Charlotte and moving towards the coastal areas of the Carolinas. Rain showers stretch from Montgomery to Atlanta, bringing wet conditions to this region. Jacksonville is also experiencing rainfall as scattered showers move through. The Gulf Coast, including Houston and New Orleans, is observing dry conditions. Savannah has a few clouds ahead of the storm line approaching from the northwest.
For this evening in Atlanta, temperatures will gradually decrease from 74 degrees at 9 PM to 67 degrees by 1 AM. Expect clear skies initially, transitioning to partly cloudy as the night progresses. Winds will be from the west-northwest at about 11 to 8 miles per hour.
Temperatures are dipping in the Southeast tonight, with Memphis experiencing a low of 57 degrees. Atlanta will see a cooler night at 60 degrees, while Montgomery is expected to drop to 65. In contrast, Jackson will stay a bit warmer at 64. The coastal cities remain mild, with Savannah and Jacksonville both around 67 degrees. New Orleans will maintain a balmy 73 degrees as temperatures continue to moderate across the region.
Tomorrow in the Southeast, Atlanta is expected to reach a high of 84 degrees, while Montgomery will see a warm 90 degrees. Jacksonville and Miami will both hit 92 degrees, making it a sultry day for Florida. New Orleans will also experience warmer conditions with a high of 83 degrees.
A developing weather pattern in the Southeast brings increased activity as a cold front descends from the northwest, impacting areas from Jackson to Montgomery. Expect strong thunderstorms to ignite from New Orleans to Savannah by late afternoon, with heavy downpours and potential flash flooding concerns in low-lying areas. This system will also bring cooler temperatures behind the front, offering relief from recent warmth. However, be prepared for gusty winds and possible severe weather alerts, especially during the evening hours in central Louisiana and Mississippi. As the front progresses, rain showers are anticipated to diminish by late Wednesday night.
Atlanta will experience a very high UV index of 10 both on Wednesday and Thursday, with a swift burn time of about 12 minutes in direct sunlight.
For the 7-day forecast in Atlanta: Wednesday: Mostly clear skies with a high of 84 degrees and a low of 60. Thursday: Expect mostly clear conditions again, with temperatures reaching 84 degrees for the high and 59 degrees for the low. Friday: Another day of mostly clear weather with a high of 81 degrees and a cooler low of 56. Saturday: Partly cloudy skies, warming up to 83 degrees during the day, with night-time lows of 63. Sunday: Mostly cloudy, reaching a high of 84 degrees and dropping to 66 degrees overnight. Monday: Watch for scattered thunderstorms, as temperatures climb to a high of 84 degrees, maintaining a low of 66. Tuesday: Showers are expected with a daytime high of 82 degrees and an overnight low of 64.
