A line of thunderstorms can be seen moving through northern Georgia, impacting areas like Atlanta and Charlotte with rainfall and potential lightning. Down south, a scattered line of showers stretches along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Jacksonville, though they are not severe at this time. The cloud cover across these regions hints at further rain. Meanwhile, cities like Miami and Tampa are enjoying clearer skies with no immediate weather threats. As evening approaches, expect more development along the existing storm line, especially in the northern areas.
Expect a warm afternoon in Miami with temperatures reaching 87 degrees at 4 PM. A light east-southeast breeze will be around 12 miles per hour, transitioning to an easterly direction by 8 PM. Clouds will build, moving from mostly sunny to partly cloudy by 6 PM, with cloud cover increasing to mostly cloudy by the evening.
Today’s regional high temperatures show a warm trend across the Southeast. In New Orleans, we’re looking at a high of 90 degrees, while closer to the coast in Tampa, temperatures reach 92. Jackson will see a high of 89, making it a warm day for outdoor activities. Meanwhile, Atlanta is slightly cooler with a high of 78. Over in Savannah, expect to reach 81 degrees, balancing warmer conditions in the southern part of the state. Jacksonville ties for the hottest spot in Florida, with a high of 91 degrees today.
Tonight in the Southeast, expect mild lows with a pocket of cooler air moving in. Memphis will see a low of 66 degrees, while Jackson registers at 71. Montgomery dips to 70 degrees. In Georgia, Atlanta has a low of 63, and further south, temperatures remain warmer, with Tampa at 75 and Miami at 80 degrees. Savannah will experience a cool night at 72 degrees.
High temperatures across the Southeast are set to reach above-average levels tomorrow. In Atlanta, expect a high of 79 degrees, while Montgomery will rise to 87 degrees. Jacksonville is forecasted to hit a sizzling 92 degrees, with Tampa soaring to 93 degrees. New Orleans is also warm, with temperatures reaching 89 degrees. Conditions will be influenced by a warm front moving through the region, contributing to these elevated highs.
A dynamic weather shift is anticipated for the Southeast tomorrow. A cold front moves in from Louisiana into Mississippi and Alabama, ushering in thunderstorms and potential heavy downpours from Shreveport to Jackson. Severe weather risks are present, notably over Atlanta, with possibilities of damaging winds and localized flooding. From Miami to Jacksonville, expect scattered showers as the system progresses eastward. Temperatures will cool slightly after the front passes, providing some relief from the early week heat.
The UV index in Miami is extremely high today at 11, with a burn time of just 11 minutes under direct sunlight. Protective measures are crucial—apply broad-spectrum sunscreen, wear a hat, and seek shade during peak sun hours. Although tomorrow maintains the same high UV level, watch for potential cloud cover which could provide brief relief. Stay sun safe!
