Showers are moving into Houston from the Gulf, with heavier rain and potential thunderstorms approaching from the southwest. Shreveport and New Orleans are seeing scattered showers advancing north. Over in Jacksonville and extending towards Savannah, there’s a substantial rainfall and potential for thunderstorm activity as well. Farther east, Charlotte is experiencing increased cloud cover with an approaching rain system. Jackson is nestled under mostly clear skies with patchy clouds. Memphis is currently dry, but conditions could change as weather systems shift.
Atlanta will remain mostly cloudy through the evening, with temperatures settling around 76 degrees at 9 PM, and gradually dipping to 71 degrees by 1 AM. Initially, a light west wind at 4 mph will shift to a calm setting by late night.
Tonight in the Southeast, temperatures will drop significantly, especially across the northern areas. Expect a chilly 63 degrees in Memphis and a cooler 65 in Nashville. Montgomery will see a low of 68, while Atlanta cools down to 65. Farther south, Jackson will be at 69, and New Orleans wraps up with a mild 75 degrees. Tampa will have a comfortable low of 77, with Miami staying warm at 79.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will see above-average temperatures, with highs peaking in the 80s and 90s. In Atlanta, expect a high of 81 degrees, while Jacksonville is warming up to 90 degrees. Tampa will be the warmest spot at a sizzling 93 degrees, and New Orleans will reach 84 degrees. Montgomery’s highs will be around 80 degrees, with Memphis slightly cooler at 83.
A significant weather shift is on the horizon for the Southeast. A cold front approaching from the West will bring scattered thunderstorms from Houston to New Orleans by Wednesday morning. This system will continue to push eastward, reaching Montgomery and Atlanta later in the day. There’s a risk of severe thunderstorm activity, mainly west of the Mississippi River in areas like Shreveport and Jackson.
The UV index in Atlanta on Wednesday will be high at 9, with a burn time of just 15 minutes in direct sunlight, so be prepared with sunscreen and protective gear. By Thursday, the index will moderate to 4, extending the burn time to about 35 minutes.
For the 7 Day Outlook in Atlanta: Wednesday: Mostly cloudy skies with a high of 83 degrees, dipping to 65 at night. Thursday: Expect cloudy conditions with temperatures peaking at 77 degrees and a low of 64. Friday: The sun breaks through for a mostly clear day, reaching 77 degrees during the day and cooling to 58 at night. Saturday: Mostly clear skies and warmer, with the temperature rising to 82 degrees, and a low of 61. Sunday: Partly cloudy with a pleasant high of 83 degrees and a low around 62. Monday: Clear and beautiful, as temperatures climb to 87 degrees in the afternoon, descending to 65 overnight. Tuesday: Partly cloudy skies, with a high of 87 degrees and a low of 67.
