A line of storms is approaching from the west of Houston, bringing isolated thunderstorms towards Shreveport. Rain showers are scattered around the area of New Orleans and are heading east, bringing light rain over parts of Jackson. In northern Georgia, Atlanta is seeing a mix of showers and cloud cover, with the system moving northeast towards Charlotte. Over in Florida, a few patchy showers are popping up around Tampa, though the weather remains predominantly clear along the coasts near Savannah and Jacksonville. Memphis enjoys mostly clear conditions under the current setup.
Afternoon temperatures in Miami are set to hover around 89 degrees with winds from the south-southeast at 15 miles per hour. By 6 PM, expect a slight dip to 87 degrees as winds shift to 13 miles per hour from the south. The skies will be mostly cloudy, offering limited sunshine through the evening. By 8 PM, temperatures will ease to 85 degrees with a gentle south-southwest breeze at 10 miles per hour.
Today Jacksonville is heating up to a sizzling 90 degrees, while Savannah is close behind at 88. In Atlanta, expect a milder day with a high of 74. Moving west, Montgomery will see a high of 82 degrees, and further south, New Orleans hits 86. In Memphis, temperatures will only reach 77 degrees. It’s a classic case of summer warmth dominating much of the Southeast today!
Tonight Memphis will drop to a chilly 64 degrees, while Nashville cools off to 63. Expect lows of 62 in Atlanta and 61 in both Jackson and Montgomery. Further south, New Orleans will see a mild 70 degrees, but Tampa remains warmer at 72. On the coast, Jacksonville and Savannah stay in the mid-60s, at 66 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast are trending above average, with many areas experiencing warm conditions. Houston will see a high of 89 degrees, while New Orleans and Shreveport tip at 84 and 87 degrees, respectively. In the Florida Panhandle, Tampa will reach a sizzling 87 degrees, and Miami is forecasted to hit 90 degrees. Meanwhile, Atlanta will warm up to 83 degrees, and Savannah will see highs around 87 degrees, indicating a consistent heat wave across the region.
Expect an active weather day for the Southeast tomorrow as a cold front moves into Alabama and Georgia, bringing scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain from Montgomery to Atlanta. There is a potential for severe storms with gusty winds, so stay weather-aware. Jacksonville and Savannah should prepare for showers and possible thunderstorms during the afternoon. Temperatures will dip slightly following the front, bringing cooler and drier conditions into the weekend. Pay special attention to low-lying areas for flash flooding due to the anticipated heavy rainfall amounts.
The UV index in Miami on Friday will soar to an extreme level of 11, with sun exposure risks being very high and a burn time of just 11 minutes, so take extra precautions! As Saturday arrives, the UV index drops to 8, which is still high, bringing the burn time to 17 minutes.
