A cluster of rain is advancing across the Gulf of Mexico, steadily moving towards New Orleans. Scattered showers are occurring around San Antonio, spreading pockets of precipitation into central Texas. Dallas and Oklahoma City are enjoying dry conditions with clear skies above. Albuquerque is seeing a few isolated showers in the vicinity, but overall, the region remains mostly dry. Midland and El Paso are experiencing scattered rain showers, providing a refreshing break to the otherwise dry weather conditions across the region.
This afternoon in Austin, expect temperatures to peak at 88 degrees by 6 PM. The sky will transition from mostly cloudy at 4 PM to cloudy conditions. Winds will be calm for most of the afternoon, shifting to an east-southeasterly breeze of 4 miles per hour by 8 PM. Conditions remain dry and serene as the day progresses into the evening.
Today El Paso is sizzling with a high of 94 degrees, while Midland hits 90. San Antonio isn’t far behind at 89 degrees. Dallas has a pleasant high of 88, and Little Rock comes in a bit cooler at 85. New Orleans and Jackson will both see highs around 84 degrees, showcasing some nice consistency in the region.
Tonight Oklahoma City is expected to drop to 67 degrees, while Dallas will see a low of 71. Farther south in San Antonio, the temperature will only dip to 75 degrees. Notably, Little Rock will be cooler at 64 degrees, and Jackson should settle around 63 degrees. Expect temperatures to remain steady in the high 60s to low 70s across the region.
Tomorrow El Paso is set to reach a sizzling 96 degrees, while Midland could hit a scorching 98. San Antonio will experience a high of 99 degrees, and Corpus Christi is expected to warm up to 92 degrees. Dallas will see a high of 88 degrees, with Oklahoma City close behind at 87 degrees.
The Southern Plains are in for a dynamic weather scenario. Expect rainfall moving into the region from Dallas down to Corpus Christi, bringing much-needed moisture on Saturday. Oklahoma City may experience stronger storms, with an unstable air mass paving the way for possible severe weather alerts through Sunday. As a cold front approaches from the northwest, be prepared for a shift that could lead to severe weather, especially in parts of southeast Oklahoma and Texas.
Expect a very high UV index of 10 in Austin on Saturday, with a burn time of approximately 12 minutes if directly exposed to the sun. On Sunday, the UV index rises to an extreme level of 11, reducing the burn time to just 11 minutes.
