Rain is primarily concentrated along the northeastern edge, affecting areas like Cleveland and Charleston as it moves eastward. Light, scattered showers are popping up near Chicago and Fort Wayne, although they appear to be diminishing. Indianapolis, Detroit, and Louisville enjoy clear skies, while Des Moines and Springfield remain dry and calm.
Afternoon temperatures in Chicago hold steady at 61 degrees with a NNE wind at 12 miles per hour, easing slightly by evening. The sun will be shining bright, providing a clear and pleasant day. By 8 PM, temperatures gently dip to 60 degrees as winds shift to NE at 6 miles per hour.
Today Kansas City leads the pack with a warm high of 87 degrees, while St. Louis is close behind at 85. As we move eastward, Indianapolis is reaching a pleasant 73 degrees, but Chicago is cooler at just 61. In northern areas like Fort Wayne, temperatures are slightly better at 67, while further north in Detroit, it stays mild with a high of 65.
Tonight, the Midwest will experience a chilly drop in temperatures. Chicago is expected to reach a low of 55 degrees, while Peoria will cool down to 59. Indianapolis will see temperatures dipping to 53 degrees. Fort Wayne is forecasted to be a bit cooler at 45 degrees, and Columbus can expect a low of 46. Expect a cool night in Detroit, where temperatures will fall to 49 degrees.
Tomorrow Kansas City leads the pack at 90 degrees. St. Louis isn’t far behind, expecting a warm high of 86. In Illinois, Peoria will see temperatures around 84 degrees, while Chicago is forecasted for a cooler 68 degrees. Towards Indiana, Indianapolis can anticipate 78 degrees, and further east, Columbus will be in the lower 70s at 72 degrees.
A cold front sweeps through the Midwest on Saturday, triggering showers and thunderstorms, particularly around Kansas City and St. Louis. Expect scattered severe storms with potential hail and gusty winds by late afternoon. Temperatures will dip significantly, with highs dropping into the 70s across much of the region. Chicago and Detroit stay mostly dry, but the shift in temperatures will be noticeable.
The UV index in Chicago will be very high at 8 on Saturday with bright skies, and sun exposure leading to potential burns in just 17 minutes, so protective measures are essential. On Sunday, the UV index increases to 9, making it extremely important to limit direct sun exposure, as the burn time shortens to about 15 minutes.
