The radar shows scattered showers moving across the Gulf Coast, particularly around New Orleans and extending into southern Alabama. Areas such as Savannah and Charleston are currently experiencing cloud cover as the rain system approaches. Skies remain clear in places like Dallas and Houston, offering a reprieve from the wetter conditions farther east. The storm system appears concentrated over Florida, with severe weather potential in localized areas.
Atlanta will experience a warm afternoon with temperatures reaching 80 degrees by 4 PM, accompanied by a westerly wind at 14 mph. As we move into the evening hours, expect a slight dip to 79 degrees with partly cloudy skies by 6 PM and winds at 13 mph. By 8 PM, skies clear up again with the temperature cooling slightly to 77 degrees and winds calming to 10 mph.
Today in Houston, expect a high of 88 degrees, while Shreveport isn’t far behind at 87. Moving over to Jackson and New Orleans, both cities will see highs of 84 degrees. In Savannah, it’s a bit warmer at 86 degrees, and Jacksonville tops out at 87. Farther south in Florida, Tampa will experience a high of 84 degrees, but Miami stands out with a hot 89 degrees.
Tonight, the Southeast faces mild temperatures with a few exceptions. Expect a low of 63 degrees in Jackson and slightly cooler in Shreveport at 67 degrees. Memphis is set for a low of 65, while Atlanta will cool down to 62 degrees. Further south, New Orleans will remain mild at 72 degrees, and the morning in Miami will begin at 77 degrees.
Tomorrow Houston will soar to 92 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots, while New Orleans and Montgomery will both reach 85 degrees. Atlanta is expected to hit 83 degrees, with Jacksonville reaching a steamy 90. Savannah will also be warm at 87 degrees. In contrast, Memphis and Jackson will have slightly cooler highs of 84 degrees.
A powerful cold front is set to move through the Southeast tomorrow, starting with thunderstorms from New Orleans to Montgomery. By the early morning, the front reaches Atlanta bringing with it heavy rain and gusty winds. Expect possible severe weather, particularly in northern Mississippi and Alabama. Rainfall could exceed an inch in some areas, potentially leading to localized flooding. As the front passes, cooler and drier air will settle in by the evening, providing a refreshing change for the region.
The UV index in Atlanta will be very high at 10 on Saturday, with direct sun exposure causing burns in as little as 12 minutes. By Sunday, the index lowers slightly to 8, suggesting a burn time of 17 minutes.
