A strong area of rain is centered over Albany, extending across much of upstate New York. This rain, with embedded thunderstorm activity, is pushing east towards New England, impacting cities such as Boston and Portland. In Pennsylvania, Scranton is seeing heavy showers, while light rain spreads to the surrounding regions. Philadelphia is on the edge of the rain shield, with light showers. The western fringes, including areas near Pittsburgh and Buffalo, are experiencing sporadic, lighter rain, while New York City has approaching cloud cover and rain from the west.
Evening temperatures in New York City start at 58 degrees at 9 PM, gradually cooling to 56 degrees by 1 AM. Expect cloud cover to decrease from mostly cloudy to mostly clear as the evening progresses. Winds will be consistent, blowing from the northwest at 8 miles per hour, shifting slightly to the west-northwest at 7 miles per hour by late evening.
Tonight in the Northeast, expect notably cool temperatures as a cold air mass settles in. Scranton will dip to 44 degrees, while Pittsburgh is slightly chillier at 44 as well. In Philadelphia, expect a low of 53, while New York City will stay a bit warmer at 55. Boston will see a low of 50, and up north, Albany is set for a low of 46.
Tomorrow New York City is forecasted to reach 70 degrees, while Philadelphia will see a high of 71 degrees. Boston will experience pleasant conditions with a high of 65 degrees, and Pittsburgh is set to warm up to 69 degrees. However, further north, Syracuse might only hit 59 degrees, slightly below normal for this time of year. This warm trend is influenced by a high-pressure system bringing mostly clear skies across the region.
An active weather system brings showers to the Northeast, with rain expected from Portland down to Philadelphia, potentially impacting visibility and travel. Expect the heaviest rainfall during early morning hours in Albany and Boston, tapering off by midday. Temperatures will be cooler, providing relief from the recent warm spell. Areas from New York to Philly may experience localized flooding due to intense downpours. Keep an umbrella handy and be cautious on wet roads.
