A line of storms is stretching from Oklahoma City down through central Texas, touching near Dallas and Midland, indicating active weather along this corridor. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are present, moving towards Little Rock and pushing eastward. Kansas City remains dry, while cloud cover is gathering over areas such as Albuquerque and El Paso, although these spots are not seeing rain currently. San Antonio and Corpus Christi are experiencing clear skies, providing a pleasant break from the active weather elsewhere. The southern regions around New Orleans and Jackson maintain dry conditions for now.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin climb to 92 degrees with mostly cloudy skies prevailing. Winds are breezy with a south-southeast direction at around 9 miles per hour. By 8 PM, temperatures ease slightly to 89 degrees, continuing the mostly cloudy trend.
In the Southern Plains today, it’s shaping up to be a hot day. Dallas is reaching a high of 90 degrees, while Fort Worth will be slightly warmer at 91. Over in El Paso, the temperature soars to 95 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Midland is also feeling the heat, with a high of 95 as well. San Antonio will experience a high of 93 degrees, and New Orleans is looking at a comfortable 86.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, we’re seeing milder temperatures. Dallas will cool down to 72 degrees, while Little Rock is expected to drop to 71. In Oklahoma City, temperatures settle at 65 degrees. Albuquerque is feeling mild at 57. El Paso will see a low of 68 degrees.
Tomorrow El Paso will reach a sizzling 96 degrees, while Midland hits 83. San Antonio is expected to climb to 95 degrees, and Corpus Christi warms up to 92. Dallas will see a milder high of 81 degrees, and Oklahoma City will reach 74.
A fast-moving cold front will push through the Southern Plains tomorrow, bringing widespread rain from Dallas to Corpus Christi. Oklahoma City is in the spotlight for potential severe storms due to a highly unstable atmosphere. The storm system will advance southeastward, necessitating a close watch for severe weather alerts through Wednesday. Temperatures are set to dip post-front, with cooler, but clearer conditions expected towards the end of the day.
The UV index in Austin is very high at 10 on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect a quick burn time of about 12 minutes if you’re outdoors without protection.
