A band of rain is sweeping through northern Utah, affecting areas around Salt Lake City and extending towards Cedar City. To the northeast of Ely, some rain showers are making their presence known. Much of California, including Redding, San Francisco, Fresno, and Los Angeles, is enjoying clear skies as the weather remains calm. Las Vegas and Phoenix are also staying dry, with no signs of precipitation on the radar. Flagstaff may see some light rain soon as conditions change.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will hover in the low 70s, reaching 71 degrees by 6 PM. Expect mostly sunny skies, transitioning from partly cloudy conditions earlier at 4 PM. Winds will be gentle, coming from the south-southwest at about 8 miles per hour. As we move into the evening, the temperature will dip slightly to 69 degrees by 8 PM with clear skies.
Today in the Southwest, we’re seeing some toasty temperatures across the region. Phoenix is sizzling with a high of 100 degrees, while Las Vegas is not far behind at 90. Over in Bakersfield, expect a warm day with a high of 96 degrees. San Diego is feeling more comfortable at 69 degrees, but Los Angeles will reach up to 72. Fresno is also on the hotter side with a high of 95 degrees.
Tonight Flagstaff is heading down to a chilly 46 degrees. Ely will be even colder at 43 degrees, while Las Vegas stays relatively mild at 77 degrees. In California, San Francisco cools to 54 degrees, and Los Angeles will rest at 60 degrees.
Tomorrow in Las Vegas, temperatures will soar to a sizzling 96 degrees, aligning with the typical summer patterns. Phoenix will experience a hot day with a high of 102 degrees, markedly above average for this time of year. Bakersfield isn’t far behind, hitting 98 degrees, while Fresno will see a warm 96 degrees. In contrast, San Francisco remains cooler at 66 degrees, showcasing the coastal influence.
For the Southwest forecast tomorrow, expect a clear and sunny pattern across the desert areas. Look out for potential storms in the afternoon, particularly around northern Arizona and New Mexico, bringing localized heavy rain and gusty winds. Temperatures will climb into the mid-80s in lower elevations, while higher elevations stay cooler in the 60s.
