Across the Southwest, the regional radar showcases a broad range of weather conditions. In northern Nevada, including Ely, cloud cover with scattered showers is evident, extending into parts of Utah near Cedar City. Salt Lake City is also experiencing persistent precipitation, adding to the cloudy scene. The majority of California, from Redding down to Los Angeles and San Diego, enjoy clear skies. The desert areas like Phoenix and Las Vegas, along with Flagstaff, are dry for now.
Afternoon temperatures in Salt Lake City will reach 77 degrees by 4 PM, rising slightly to 78 degrees by 6 PM. Winds are coming from the west-northwest at 8 to 10 miles per hour.
Today Las Vegas is seeing a high of 90 degrees, while Phoenix tops out at a scorching 100 degrees. A cooler San Diego is experiencing a high of just 69 degrees, making for a stark contrast with the desert heat. Up north in Cedar City, the temperature reaches 71 degrees, and Flagstaff will stay mild at 71 as well. Fresno is warming up nicely with a high of 95 degrees, while Bakersfield is just a bit hotter at 96.
Tonight, Los Angeles will see a low of 60 degrees, while San Diego drops to 62. In the Valley, Fresno is expected to cool down to 66 degrees. Flagstaff is particularly chilly with a forecast low of 46. Las Vegas remains mild at 77 degrees, but be aware that Ely could dip significantly to 43 degrees.
Tomorrow, Phoenix will soar to a scorching 102 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Las Vegas isn’t far behind, reaching 96 degrees under clear skies. In California, Bakersfield and Fresno both expect highs of 98 and 96 degrees, respectively, indicating a warm trend across the region. San Diego will enjoy a milder day at 70 degrees, setting it apart from the sweltering heat inland. San Francisco will remain cool at 66 degrees, with marine influences keeping temperatures in check.
A frontal system moves into the Southwest, bringing scattered thunderstorms, especially across Arizona and New Mexico tomorrow. Expect brief periods of heavy rain and gusty winds, which could disrupt outdoor activities. The highest chance for precipitation is in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures remain near average, with slight cooling after storms pass.
