A line of strong storms is pushing across the Southern Plains, with Oklahoma City experiencing significant rainfall and potentially severe weather. This storm activity is stretching towards Little Rock, making the journey northeast. Light rain showers are moving across Kansas City, and areas around Jackson are seeing increased cloud cover. Cities like Dallas and San Antonio remain clear for now, offering a reprieve from the storms to the north.
The afternoon in Austin sees temperatures soaring to 95 degrees by 4 PM and peaking at 97 degrees by 6 PM. Mostly sunny skies dominate with a steady south wind at 8 miles per hour. By 8 PM, temperatures slightly ease to 94 degrees, with wind shifting to the south-southeast at 10 miles per hour and a few clouds rolling in.
Today’s high temperatures in the Southern Plains are heating up significantly. El Paso leads the pack with a scorching high of 103 degrees, while Midland reaches 101 degrees. Farther east, Dallas will see a toasty high of 93 degrees, and San Antonio is not far behind at 99 degrees. Meanwhile, Jackson enjoys a warm 93 degrees and New Orleans hits 91.
Tonight, Oklahoma City will drop to 65 degrees, while Dallas sees a low of 69. In the Texas Panhandle, Midland will cool down to 68. Little Rock is expected to reach 71, and Jackson will settle at 72.
Tomorrow in the Southern Plains, we’re looking at some sizzling temperatures. El Paso will heat up to a scorching 104 degrees. Midland is expected to reach 101, while Dallas will see a high of 95 degrees. San Antonio will also experience warm weather with a high of 100 degrees. Corpus Christi and New Orleans can expect to hit 93 and 92 degrees.
For the Southern Plains tomorrow, expect a mix of scattered storms and sunny intervals. From Dallas to Corpus Christi, rain will offer some relief to dry conditions, while Oklahoma City may see stronger storms with potential for severe weather warnings. An advancing cold front introduces a risk for isolated severe thunderstorms, particularly in southeastern Oklahoma and northeastern Texas by late afternoon. Showers could linger into Wednesday, with temperatures slightly cooler as the front passes. Stay alert for any weather advisories, especially in areas prone to flash flooding due to heavy downpours.
