As we look ahead to a new week in Los Angeles, the forecast promises plenty of sun and rising temps, peaking in the mid-70s to low-80s. Nighttime brings mild lows in the 60s, offering perfect evenings under clear skies. Prepare for the outdoors with a high UV index, ensuring enough sun protection during these sunny days.
The Southwestern U.S. radar reveals a mix of conditions across the region. Redding and Ely are experiencing very light rain showers that are moving eastward. Coastal areas from San Francisco to San Diego remain dry, while Phoenix continues to enjoy clear skies.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, expect sunny skies with temperatures starting at 82 degrees at 4 PM and peaking at 83 by 6 PM. A slight breeze will accompany the warmth, blowing from the south-southwest at 7 to 8 miles per hour. As the evening approaches, temperatures will slightly cool to 80 degrees by 8 PM, maintaining the clear conditions.
In the Southwest today, temperatures are soaring under mostly clear skies. Phoenix is sizzling with a high of 113 degrees, while Las Vegas isn’t far behind at 110. In California, Bakersfield reaches 98, and Fresno hits 97 degrees, showcasing the heat throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Coastal areas are cooler, with San Diego sitting at 83 degrees and Los Angeles at 85. Flagstaff offers a break from the heat with a pleasant 89, illustrating the stark temperature contrasts across the region.
Tonight, temperatures are dipping down to 48 degrees in Flagstaff. Las Vegas will settle at 56 degrees, while Bakersfield cools to 67 degrees. Expect lows of 61 in both Los Angeles and San Diego, with Fresno forecasting a low of 63. Redding rounds out the region with a mild low of 68 degrees.
Tomorrow in Phoenix, expect a sizzling high of 110 degrees, well above the seasonal average. Las Vegas will see a scorching high of 107 degrees, indicating a prolonged heatwave for the region. Bakersfield will also experience a warm day at 96 degrees, while Fresno hits 95. Coastal San Francisco will provide some relief with a cooler high of 70 degrees. Redding stands at a high of 99 degrees, marking a hot day across much of the Southwest.
A dry and hot day is ahead for the interior deserts as the high-pressure system remains dominant. Temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-90s in Phoenix and Las Vegas. In contrast, coastal areas will experience cooler temps, with Southern California lingering in the mid-70s due to onshore flow. A weak upper-level trough brings a slight chance of showers to northern New Mexico and Colorado during the afternoon hours.
In Los Angeles, the UV index is very high at 10 on both Monday and Tuesday, with a burn time of just 12 minutes in direct sunlight.
