The Northeast region is experiencing calm weather, with clear skies dominating much of the area. However, scattered showers are moving into the region from the west, likely to affect cities like Scranton and Syracuse. Portland might see some clouds forming, bringing a chance of rain later in the evening. While Boston and New York enjoy a pleasant break from precipitation, some cloudiness could develop over Philadelphia. Farther south in Washington, D.C., conditions remain dry, providing a pleasant end to the day.
For this evening in New York City, temperatures will ease from 46 degrees at 8 PM to 44 degrees by midnight. Expect clear skies initially, with clouds gradually increasing closer to midnight. Winds will be calm, shifting to a southwest breeze around 4 to 5 miles per hour.
Now for the low temperatures in the Northeast tonight. Expect a notably cold night across the region. Boston will see a low of 28 degrees, while Portland drops to 29. In Albany, temperatures will fall to around 40 degrees. Syracuse is looking at a cooler 43, and Buffalo will register a low of 44 degrees. Philadelphia will experience a low of 55, with Scranton slightly cooler at 51 degrees. Pittsburgh rounds out the night at 59 degrees.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Northeast is set for a warm day with above-average temperatures. In New York City, expect a high of 62 degrees, while Philadelphia will reach a balmy 64 degrees. Washington, D.C. leads the pack with a high of 69 degrees. Scranton, Pennsylvania will see a milder day with a high of 56 degrees. Buffalo and Syracuse, however, are lagging behind with highs of just 49 and 50 degrees, respectively.
“A band of showers will move across the Northeast starting early tomorrow, primarily impacting areas from Buffalo to Albany. Expect scattered rain showers with occasional heavy downpours in parts of New York and Pennsylvania. By afternoon, the showers will track eastwards, reaching the Boston area, and may result in localized flooding in urban areas. Temperatures are expected to be cool, hovering in the upper 40s to low 50s. Winds from the northwest will keep conditions brisk.
The UV index in New York City will be moderate on Thursday with a value of 5, indicating a burn time of about 27 minutes in direct sunlight. On Friday, the UV index decreases to 4.
