Greetings from your favorite meteorologist, Amy Freeze! Today’s Southwest weather forecast reveals a tapestry of conditions. Partly cloudy skies in Salt Lake City will soon welcome rain, while the northern ski resorts enjoy fresh snow. Over in California, cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles enjoy calm weather, perfect for outdoor plans. The forecast extends a weather alert with an incoming storm likely to impact travel, especially in Southern California. Keep ahead of weather surprises with our detailed updates and safety tips. For the coming week, expect a blend of showers, clouds, and maybe even some sun peeking through! The Regional Radar shows diverse weather conditions across the Southwest. Northern parts of Utah, in the ski resorts light snow is falling. Meanwhile, Cedar City is seeing a mix of rain and snow showers as the system moves through. The coastal areas of California, such as San Francisco and Los Angeles, remain calm with minimal precipitation. In Southern California, both San Diego and Los Angeles maintain mild and dry conditions. More inland, places like Las Vegas and Phoenix are enjoying clear skies.
In Salt Lake City this afternoon, temperatures will cool from 50 degrees at 3 PM to 46 degrees by 7 PM. Expect cloudy skies transitioning to rain by late afternoon. Winds will come from the west-northwest, reaching up to 13 miles per hour, before slightly decreasing to 11 miles per hour by the evening.
Let’s take a look at the afternoon high temperatures across the Southwest today. Phoenix is sizzling as usual, reaching a high of 82 degrees, while Las Vegas comes in a bit cooler at 76. Meanwhile, in the higher elevations, Flagstaff is experiencing a mild day with a high of 56 degrees. Cedar City is feeling a bit cooler as well, with highs around 55 degrees. San Diego is enjoying a refreshing 63 degrees, while Los Angeles warms up to a comfortable 65.
Low temperatures in the Southwest will be quite chilly tonight. Expect a similar chill in Flagstaff, Arizona, also at 33 degrees. Over in Las Vegas, temperatures will dip a bit more moderately to 55 degrees. Cedar City will see a low of 39, while Phoenix will remain warmer, dropping to 59 degrees. San Diego will have a mild low of 56 degrees, perfect for those late-night strolls.
High temperatures in the Southwest for tomorrow are shaping up to be quite warm. In Las Vegas, expect a high of 78 degrees, well above the average for this time of year. Farther west, Los Angeles will reach a comfortable 62 degrees, while San Diego is looking at a high of 65 degrees. Move inland to Fresno, where temperatures will climb to 67 degrees. In Bakersfield, it’s a bit warmer with a high of 72 degrees.
