A line of rain is sweeping through central and northern California, with precipitation stretching from Redding down to Fresno. In the higher elevations around Reno, a mix of rain and snow is occurring as the system moves through. Ely is getting snow showers, while clouds are thickening over the remainder of Nevada. Areas such as San Francisco and Los Angeles remain dry, while some showers may develop near San Diego.
Salt Lake City will enjoy sunny skies this afternoon with temperatures peaking at 64 degrees by 6 PM. Winds will be consistently mild, starting from the west at 8 miles per hour and shifting northwest at 8 miles per hour as the evening progresses.
Today in the Southwest, we’re seeing some warm temperatures across key cities. In Las Vegas, expect a high of 84 degrees, making it a sunny day for outdoor activities. Phoenix is matching that with a warm 84 degrees as well. Over in San Diego, temperatures are more mild at 72 degrees, while Los Angeles reaches 72 as well, offering a pleasant coastal breeze. Bakersfield and Fresno are heating up at 84 degrees, highlighting a warmer inland trend. Flagstaff remains cooler at 61 degrees, giving us a nice contrast in the region.
In the Southwest, temperatures will dip significantly overnight. Flagstaff will see a low of 34 degrees, while Las Vegas will remain milder at 61 degrees. Ely drops all the way down to 28 degrees, marking a notable temperature drop. In contrast, Phoenix will stay relatively warm at 63 degrees. Expect cooler conditions in Cedar City with a low of 41, and Fresno will settle at 54 degrees.
Tomorrow, the Southwest region is set to experience above-average temperatures. Phoenix will sizzle at a high of 91 degrees, while Las Vegas reaches 86 degrees, both well above the seasonal norms. Bakersfield is expected to hit 88 degrees, signaling a warm day across the region. San Diego and Los Angeles will remain pleasant at 70 degrees each. In contrast, San Francisco will be cooler at 68 degrees, though still warmer than typical for this time of year.
