Las Vegas and Cedar City are experiencing clear skies. In Arizona, near Phoenix and Flagstaff, there’s a mix of showers moving through, indicating some wet weather is on the horizon.
In Salt Lake City this afternoon, temperatures hold steady at 91 degrees with winds from the west at 7 miles per hour. As we move into the early evening, expect the wind to shift to the west-northwest, maintaining a consistent speed. The skies will be partly cloudy, transitioning to mostly cloudy by 8 PM.
Today’s high temperatures in the Southwest are on the rise, with Los Angeles peaking at 77 degrees and San Diego matching that. Bakersfield is heating up significantly, expected to reach 102 degrees. In Las Vegas, we’re looking at a high of 100 degrees, making it a sweltering afternoon there. Over in Phoenix, temperatures will hit 87 degrees, which is fairly mild compared to other cities in the region. Flagstaff remains cooler at 77 degrees, providing a nice contrast to the warmer low desert areas. Redding will soar to 97 degrees as summer patterns set in across the region.
Tonight Las Vegas will see a low of 76 degrees, while Phoenix stays warm at 76 as well. Expect cooler conditions in Flagstaff with a low of 48 degrees, and Ely will drop to a brisk 39 degrees. Fresno will have a low of 63, and Bakersfield will cool off to 64 degrees. San Diego will rest at 60 degrees tonight.
Tomorrow Redding is set to reach a scorching 102 degrees, while Fresno and Bakersfield will also see high temperatures around 93 and 95 degrees, respectively. In Las Vegas, expect a high of 95 degrees, and Phoenix is forecasted to hit 90 degrees. Coastal cities are cooler, with Los Angeles at 72 and San Diego also reaching 72 degrees. Flagstaff will be the coolest in the region with only 62 degrees as it remains influenced by a nearby weather system.
Expect an active weather pattern across the Southwest tomorrow. Thunderstorms are likely to affect southern Arizona, with potential heavy rain leading to flash flooding. New Mexico could see isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the southeast, bringing brief heavy showers. The Pacific front will introduce cooler temperatures to Southern California, while lingering showers may dampen San Diego early in the day. High-pressure systems will begin to build, setting the stage for sunnier conditions by Wednesday.
