On the Regional Radar, rain is pushing inland from the Pacific Ocean, gracing the California coastline with much-needed precipitation. Showers blanket the central California valleys, offering relief from drought conditions. Higher elevations, particularly around areas like Redding, are experiencing snow, while strong winds accompany these weather patterns. In the southern part of the state, Los Angeles is maintaining mild conditions with light drizzle. Flagstaff is contending with potential snow showers as cooler air settles in. Meanwhile, areas such as Las Vegas and Phoenix remain dry under clear conditions, with cloud cover primarily confined to higher altitudes and locations farther north.
For this evening in Salt Lake City, expect a pleasant transition with clear skies throughout. Temperatures will descend from 61 degrees at 8 PM to 51 degrees by midnight. Winds will shift from northwest at 5 miles per hour to east-southeast at 6 miles per hour, maintaining a gentle breeze.
Low temperatures tonight in the Southwest region are looking quite cool. Las Vegas stays relatively mild at 61 degrees, while Cedar City, Utah, will see a low of 44. Over in Redding, California, expect temperatures to fall to 54 degrees, with San Francisco cooling down to 52. Bakersfield is forecasted to reach 61 degrees tonight. Keep an eye on Flagstaff, Arizona, where the temperature is expected to dip to 39 degrees, marking a significant drop.
Here’s the regional high temperature rundown for the Southwest Tuesday: Phoenix is set to sizzle with a high of 99 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will also experience warmth, hitting 90 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles will see a comfortable 76 degrees, while San Diego will remain mild at 72 degrees. Farther north, Fresno reaches a warm 88 degrees, and Bakersfield is expected to hit a scorching 91 degrees. Overall, the region is experiencing warmer-than-normal temperatures influenced by a high-pressure system settling in, bringing clear skies and plenty of sunshine.
“Ahead on the Southwest futurecast, expect dry conditions and sunny skies across the desert southwest, offering pleasant weather through tomorrow. However, the Pacific Northwest sees a shift, as a series of Pacific systems bring rain to northern California, with the potential for moderate to heavy showers reaching the coastal areas. Over southern California, anticipate light, scattered showers, especially in the San Bernardino Valley, causing wet roads and potentially creating slick driving conditions. For the mountain passes, keep an eye out for snow showers as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.”
The UV index in Salt Lake City is moderate at 5 today and Tuesday, with a burn time of about 27 minutes in direct sunlight. Be sure to wear sunscreen and protective clothing if you plan to be outdoors!
