“A developing weather pattern across the Southeast is highlighted by strong to severe thunderstorms extending from Houston to New Orleans throughout the day. A cold front advances eastward, reaching Montgomery and Atlanta early Wednesday. The Southeast will stay vigilant with the Storm Prediction Center indicating a moderate risk for severe weather, particularly in Louisiana and Mississippi. Excessive rainfall and havoc-wreaking winds could accompany these storms, raising concerns for flash flooding in low-lying areas. Temperature swings are likely post-storm, leading to more mild conditions and cloud coverage into Thursday. For Florida, including Jacksonville and Miami, anticipates lighter showers and potential thunderstorm development into the evening hours.”
The UV index in Atlanta will be high on Wednesday at 7, with a burn time of about 20 minutes in direct sunlight. On Thursday, it rises to 8, shortening the burn time to 17 minutes.
