On the Regional Radar view this morning, light rain showers are making their way through central Texas, around the areas of Midland up to San Antonio. Moving farther east, you might encounter a bit of precipitation developing around the New Orleans area. Oklahoma City and Dallas are enjoying clear skies, a nice reprieve from recent stormy weather. Farther north towards Kansas City and to the east near Little Rock, conditions are mostly clear, with just a hint of cloud cover. With that said, those in El Paso and Albuquerque can look forward to a dry day with some scattered cloudiness typical of late spring.
Evening in Austin looks mostly cloudy with temperatures beginning at 84 degrees at 9 PM. Expect calming winds shifting to an east-southeast breeze at around 3 miles per hour. By 11 PM, temperatures will gently dip to 79 degrees with conditions staying mostly cloudy. As the night progresses to 1 AM, skies will be partly cloudy as temperatures settle at 77 degrees.
Tonight Oklahoma City will see a low of 64 degrees, while Dallas cools to 71. Little Rock is expected to dip to 64 degrees. Further south, San Antonio should settle at 75 degrees, and New Orleans will hold at a mild 72.
High temperatures across the Southern Plains will soar tomorrow, with several cities seeing readings well above average for this time of year. In San Antonio, expect a high of 99 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the area. Midland will also experience significant warmth at 98 degrees, while Dallas reaches around 88 degrees. Corpus Christi won’t be far behind with a high of 92 degrees, and El Paso rounds out the forecast at 96 degrees.
A strong storm system advances across the Southern Plains, causing turbulent weather for Saturday. Starting in Oklahoma City, expect severe storms by early afternoon, as a cold front approaches. The storm then heads southeast, impacting Dallas with heavy rain and gusty winds into the evening. Much-needed showers develop from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, bringing a brief relief from dry conditions.
Austin will experience a very high UV index of 10 on Saturday, with a burn time of just 12 minutes under direct sunlight. By Sunday, the UV index reaches an extreme level of 11, reducing the burn time to 11 minutes.
Saturday: Expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 89 degrees and a low of 69. Sunday: The temperatures rise to a high of 95 degrees with a low of 74 under partly cloudy conditions. Monday: It’ll be warmer with a high reaching 96 degrees and a low of 75, remaining partly cloudy. Tuesday: Partly cloudy skies continue, with a high of 92 degrees and a nighttime low of 75. Wednesday: Highs reach 90 degrees with showers developing late, the low remains at 75. Thursday: Look for partly cloudy skies with a high of 93 degrees and a low of 76. Friday: Partly cloudy and pleasantly warm, with temperatures hitting a high of 96 degrees and a low of 76.
