On the Regional Radar, a substantial line of severe storms is progressing from west to east, impacting major areas across the Southeast. Currently, Memphis is experiencing heavy storms, and this line of weather is extending down through Jackson. New Orleans is under significant storm activity, with these storms continuing their journey northeast toward Montgomery and Atlanta, bringing strong rainclouds and potential severe weather conditions. Rain is encroaching over Georgia and moving into the Carolinas, with increasing clouds ahead of these rainstorms. Areas like Savannah and Charleston are seeing advancing weather systems but remain dry for the moment. Showers are soaking parts of eastern Louisiana, with the Mississippi Delta experiencing light to moderate rainfall. Jacksonville is shaking off earlier showers as skies begin to clear out, promising relief for Northern Florida.
Atlanta’s afternoon forecast brings a mix of weather conditions. Temperatures will reach up to 66 degrees by 3 PM with scattered thunderstorms. Winds will gust gently from the west-southwest at 14 miles per hour. By 5 PM, expect conditions to be cloudy with temperatures slightly rising to 69 degrees and consistent winds from the west-southwest at 11 miles per hour. As you head into the evening around 7 PM, scattered thunderstorms return with temperatures cooling back to 65 degrees, while winds shift from the west at 9 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southeast region. In Shreveport, we’re seeing a pleasant high of 75 degrees. Houston is a bit warmer, reaching 82 degrees. In Jackson, temperatures are sitting at a comfortable 73 degrees. Heading towards the eastern part of the region, Montgomery hits 74 degrees. Moving south, New Orleans enjoys a warm 80 degrees. Savannah has a high of 81 degrees, and Jacksonville warms up nicely to 85 degrees. In Florida, both Tampa and Miami are basking in the sunshine with highs of 85 and 82 degrees respectively.
Tonight in the Southeast, expect some chilly temperatures as cold air settles in. Memphis will see a low of 33 degrees, while Nashville drops to 35. Shreveport is forecasted to maintain a warmer 37 degrees. In Jackson, temperatures will dip to 41. Farther south, Tampa will remain milder with a low of 56, and Miami will sit at 63 degrees, still feeling significantly cooler compared to previous nights.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast are shaping up to be quite warm. Jacksonville is forecasted to hit 84 degrees, while Tampa will warm up even more to 87 degrees, leading the pack in the region. In Alabama, Montgomery is expected to reach 81 degrees. Over in Jackson, Mississippi, the high will be 81 degrees as well. New Orleans tops off at 80 degrees.
The Southeast weather pattern is shaping up to be active. A cold front moves from Texas into the Southeast, bringing thunderstorms across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and into Georgia by tomorrow evening. Thunderstorms will begin early in Atlanta, rolling into eastern Georgia and the Carolinas. Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected, with potential flooding in low-lying areas. Jacksonville will face scattered thunderstorms, potentially extending to Savannah later in the day. Meanwhile, the Florida Panhandle, including areas around Tallahassee, sees significant cloud cover and intermittent showers. Be vigilant for any weather warnings as conditions evolve over the next 48 hours across the Southeast.
The UV index in Atlanta will be low on Monday with a value of 3, potentially influenced by storm systems reducing sun exposure. For Tuesday, expect the UV index to climb to a high of 8.
