A line of severe storms is currently impacting areas near Memphis, moving briskly towards Chattanooga. Light to moderate rain is spreading across Mississippi, particularly around Jackson, making its way eastward. The central Gulf Coast, from New Orleans to Montgomery, remains under cloudy skies, with the possibility of rain developing later. The southern and eastern coasts, including Tampa and Miami, are basking in clear conditions, providing a temporary respite from the stormy pattern. Keep an umbrella handy if you’re in Georgia or traveling to Atlanta, as showers are predicted to follow the current weather trend.
For this evening in Atlanta, temperatures will gradually decrease from 81 degrees at 9 PM to 75 degrees by 1 AM. Expect partly cloudy skies at first, becoming mostly cloudy as the night progresses. Winds will shift slightly from the southwest at 8 miles per hour to south-southwest at 7 miles per hour.
Tonight in the Southeast, expect a notable dip in temperatures as a cool air mass settles in. Nashville will see a low of 59 degrees, while Memphis drops to 62. Jackson’s temperature is forecasted at 61 degrees, and Montgomery will also experience a low of 61. In contrast, warmer conditions remain closer to the coast, with Tampa at a mild 76 degrees and Miami at 78.
Tomorrow Atlanta will reach 85 degrees, while Montgomery is set for a high of 88. Jacksonville is heating up significantly with a high of 95 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. New Orleans will experience a warm 86 degrees, and farther west, Shreveport is expected to hit 91 degrees.
A cold front is making its way through the Southeast, reaching from Shreveport to Montgomery by Tuesday evening. Expect thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds, particularly impacting areas from Memphis to New Orleans. Overnight into Wednesday, the front will progress eastward, bringing showers and potential severe storms to Atlanta, Savannah, and Jacksonville. Rainfall could lead to localized flooding in vulnerable areas, and driving conditions may be hazardous. Plan accordingly as temperatures start to drop behind the front, ushering in cool and dry conditions after the storms pass.
The UV index in Atlanta will be very high today and tomorrow, with a value of 10, meaning sun exposure can lead to burns in just 12 minutes.
