The Southeast radar paints a vivid picture of varied weather patterns today. Houston is seeing clusters of rain, gradually pushing towards Shreveport, which can soon expect scattered showers. Across Louisiana, the heavier rain is staying west of New Orleans, keeping the city relatively dry for now. Jackson, Mississippi, is experiencing light rain, with more showers extending towards Montgomery. Moving into Georgia, Atlanta enjoys clear skies, while the eastern coasts, including Savannah and Charleston, remain under partly cloudy skies. Northern Florida cities like Jacksonville experience a mix of clouds, but any rain seems to be staying offshore at this time. Meanwhile, locations like Miami and Tampa remain clear, enjoying a break in the weather action.
For this afternoon in Atlanta, expect sunny skies with temperatures steady at 74 degrees. Winds will be coming from the south at 5 miles per hour. Moving into the later hours, conditions remain mostly sunny, as temperatures hold at 74 degrees with a slight shift in wind to the south-southwest at 5 miles per hour. By early evening, anticipate mostly clear skies and a gentle south-southeast breeze at 4 miles per hour as the temperature begins to dip to 69 degrees.
Let’s take a look at those afternoon high temperatures across the Southeast. Shreveport is warming up nicely today with a high of 82 degrees. Over in Jackson, it’s a similar story with temperatures reaching 82 as well. New Orleans is slightly cooler at 80 degrees, while Montgomery sees a high of 82.
Moving to the eastern part of the region, Jacksonville is enjoying a pleasant day at 77 degrees. Meanwhile, Savannah has a cooler high of 71 degrees. In Atlanta, temperatures sit at 76 degrees. And down in Florida, Tampa stands out with a significant leap to 87 degrees, while Miami remains comfortable at 80.
Now for the low temperatures in the Southeast. Expect a chilly night with temperatures dipping significantly across the region. Knoxville will see a low of 32 degrees, while Nashville drops to 34. Memphis is forecasted at 35 degrees tonight. Moving south, Jackson will settle at 36 degrees, and Montgomery will be around 38. Atlanta is expecting a low of 40 degrees. In contrast, further south, temperatures will remain milder, with New Orleans at 54 degrees and Tampa around 62.
High temperatures for the Southeast region tomorrow show a warm trend as spring settles in. Atlanta is forecasted to reach 80 degrees, while Memphis gets up to 79 degrees. In Montgomery, highs soar to an impressive 83 degrees, indicating above-average warmth for this time of year.
Shreveport will see a more mild 69 degrees, and Jackson is expected to hit 77 degrees. Over in New Orleans, temperatures rise to 78 degrees. Moving down to Florida, Tampa is looking at a high of 85 degrees, with Miami following closely at 78 degrees. Overall, this warm spell is influenced by a high-pressure system moving into the region, bringing clear skies and sunshine.
“Tomorrow in the Southeast, a cold front is set to bring active weather conditions. Expect thunderstorms moving out of Texas into areas like Shreveport and New Orleans by late morning. As the front advances, Montgomery and Atlanta will experience rainfall by the afternoon, bringing potential for strong storms. Jackson and Memphis should be prepared for isolated thunderstorms, while Savannah could see rain showers by evening. The main threats include heavy downpours and gusty winds, with the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.”
The UV index in Atlanta will be very high on Thursday, reaching a level of 8, with a burn time of approximately 17 minutes in direct sunlight. On Friday, the index lowers to 6, indicating moderate sun strength and a burn time of around 23 minutes.
