On the Regional Radar, isolated showers are currently noted off the coast of Jacksonville and just moving inland. The rest of the Southeast is experiencing relatively dry conditions with clear skies. Coastal Georgia and the Carolinas are mostly calm, but clouds are beginning to gather in anticipation of impending wet weather. Some cloud cover is evident along the Gulf Coast, particularly near New Orleans, but no precipitation is occurring there just yet.
For this evening in Atlanta, anticipate partly cloudy skies with temperatures starting at 83 degrees at 9 PM, cooling slightly to 81 degrees by 11 PM. Winds will be from the west-northwest at 6 miles per hour, shifting to a lighter 5 miles per hour by 1 AM as skies become mostly clear.
Tonight, temperatures will remain warm across the Southeast, with New Orleans hitting a low of 80 degrees. Jackson will see temperatures dip to 76, while Montgomery and Nashville will also record lows of 76 and 74 degrees, respectively. Savannah is expected to settle at 77 degrees, and Jacksonville will match that.
Tomorrow, Shreveport will see a scorching high of 99 degrees, while Houston isn’t far behind at 96 degrees. Jackson will reach a warm 97 degrees, and New Orleans will experience a high of 94 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the Southeast on Tuesday, with the greatest activity from Jackson to Montgomery. A cold front moving in from the west will trigger scattered storms, with chances for heavy rainfall and localized flooding in spots. New Orleans and Atlanta could see stormy conditions by the afternoon, potentially impacting the evening commute. Areas from Charlotte to Jacksonville will also experience lingering showers.
The UV index in Atlanta is set to reach an extreme level of 11 on both Monday and Tuesday, with a burn time in direct sunlight occurring in just 11 minutes. It’s crucial to limit sun exposure during peak hours and apply high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin. With thunderstorms in the forecast, cloud cover may intermittently reduce UV exposure, but caution is still advised.
