In Atlanta, the mercury is on the rise with a week full of heat and potential thunderstorms. From tonight’s mild temperatures to tomorrow’s sizzling highs, we’re seeing some of the hottest days of the year. But that’s not all—expect thunderstorms to roll in, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds. Our blog provides essential safety tips and an in-depth day-by-day forecast for the Southeast region.
The Southeast region is experiencing scattered showers along the Gulf Coast, with spots of rain near New Orleans and Jacksonville. These showers are moving northward, bringing cloudy skies to Montgomery and Atlanta. The rest of the Southeast, including cities like Memphis and Charlotte, remains largely clear and dry, allowing those areas to enjoy calmer weather conditions. Expect the rain to slowly creep inland, increasing cloud cover for inland areas throughout the day.
For this evening in Atlanta, plan for mostly clear skies transitioning to clear conditions later. Temperatures will gradually decrease from 86 degrees at 9 PM to 79 degrees by 1 AM. A light SSE breeze at 3 mph will become calm as the night progresses.
Tonight, lows across the Southeast will generally remain mild. Expect 75 degrees in Memphis and Nashville, while Jackson will cool to 73 degrees. Montgomery is set for a low of 75, and both Savannah and Jacksonville will see temperatures drop to 76 and 74 degrees, respectively. New Orleans and Houston will maintain warmer lows at 77 degrees.
Tomorrow in Atlanta, expect a sizzling high of 96 degrees. Over in Charlotte, temperatures are set to soar to 101 degrees, significantly above average for this time of year. Montgomery will hit 97 degrees, while temperatures in Jacksonville will reach around 94 degrees. New Orleans will be slightly cooler at 89 degrees, influenced by nearby moisture.
For the Southeast region tomorrow, expect a persistent weather pattern as thunderstorms advance from Texas and Louisiana into Mississippi and Alabama by mid-morning. A cold front arrives in Atlanta by early afternoon, bringing the possibility of isolated severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds. Through Tuesday night, portions of Florida, from Jacksonville to Miami, could see convective rainfall leading to flash flooding concerns. Look for improving conditions by Wednesday evening as the cold front exits, bringing drier, cooler air across the region.
In Atlanta, the UV index is extreme at 10 for both Monday and Tuesday, with a swift burn time of just 12 minutes in direct sunlight.
For the 7 Day Outlook in Atlanta: Monday: Mostly clear skies with a high of 93 degrees and a low of 72 degrees.
