Houston remains clear for now, but keep an eye out for potential rain developing later. The Mississippi Delta is seeing scattered showers, with a band of precipitation extending into central Mississippi and bringing light rain to Jackson. New Orleans and the surrounding areas are experiencing drier conditions, although cloud cover is evident. Across the Southeast toward Georgia and the Carolinas, skies are mostly clear, offering a respite from the wet weather farther south.
Atlanta’s afternoon temperatures will reach up to 84 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds will shift from the north-northwest at 4 miles per hour, gradually turning to the west as we move towards the early evening. As temperatures slightly decrease to 83 degrees by 6 PM, expect the cloud cover to remain. By 8 PM, look for a mild temperature of 80 degrees with a gentle southwest breeze at 3 miles per hour.
Today Shreveport will reach a scorching 92 degrees, while Houston is close behind with a high of 90. Over in Jackson, expect a warm day with temperatures hitting 89 degrees. Montgomery sees a pleasant 87, while Atlanta stays a bit cooler at 85. In Florida, Jacksonville and Tampa are sharing the spotlight with highs of 89 and 85 degrees respectively, offering a taste of summer as Miami stays mild at 85.
Tonight expect Memphis to drop to 72 degrees, while Nashville will see a slightly cooler 71. In the heart of Louisiana, New Orleans is at 76, while Jackson, Mississippi, cools down to 69. Atlanta will have a low of 67 degrees, and farther south, Tampa will settle at 72. Miami remains warm at 76, maintaining a tropical feel compared to the rest of the region.
High temperatures in the Southeast region are expected to soar above average tomorrow. Atlanta will reach a warm 91 degrees, while Savannah hits 86. In Alabama, Montgomery is set to enjoy a high of 91. Over in New Orleans, temperatures will reach 87 degrees, and Houston will see highs of 89.
Southeast weather is active as a cold front sweeps across the region, bringing scattered storms from Houston to Jackson by early afternoon on Tuesday, with potential severe weather from Shreveport to Montgomery. This will evolve into a more widespread rain event as we move into Wednesday morning, impacting areas from Birmingham to Charlotte. Heavy downpours are expected to bring localized flash flooding concerns, particularly across parts of Mississippi and Alabama. Post-storm, expect a cooler air mass to bring refreshing temperatures to the area by Thursday, with highs approximately 10 degrees lower than today. Stay alert for any advisories from the NWS as conditions develop.
The UV index in Atlanta will be very high on Monday and Tuesday, with a value of 10, indicating a burn time of about 12 minutes in direct sunlight.
