With temperatures ranging from cool mornings to warm afternoons, and a potent cold front on the horizon bringing thunderstorms and possible flash flooding, there’s a lot to prepare for. Across the Southeast, the radar indicates a predominantly clear and mild start to the day, with scattered clouds visible across the region. Rain showers are advancing from the Gulf of Mexico towards Florida, particularly affecting areas around Miami and Tampa, moving towards Jacksonville. Coastal areas of the Carolinas and Georgia, including Savannah and Charleston, remain dry under mostly clear skies. Farther west, cities like Houston and New Orleans are currently experiencing pleasant conditions. Shreveport and Montgomery also enjoy clear weather, making it a great day for outdoor activities. Keep an eye on the skies, though, as the weather might shift with more moisture approaching from the Gulf.
This afternoon in Atlanta, look for sunny skies with temperatures peaking around 62 degrees by 6 PM. A northwest breeze will persist, reaching up to 14 miles per hour, gradually decreasing to 11 miles per hour by evening. Perfect weather for an afternoon stroll, with clear skies and a comfortable vibe across the city.
Starting in Texas, Houston is warming up nicely with a high of 85 degrees, while nearby Shreveport reaches 81. As we move eastward, Jackson has a high of 72, with New Orleans slightly warmer at 75 degrees. In Alabama, Montgomery is a bit cooler today with a high of 69 degrees, while temperatures start to climb as we head to the east coast. It’s 70 degrees in Savannah and a comfortable 74 in Jacksonville. Down in Florida, Miami brings the heat with a high of 81, while Tampa enjoys a share of sunshine and sits at 74 degrees.
Expect a brisk 30 degrees in Atlanta as the region cools down. Nashville will wake up to 32 degrees, a reminder of winter’s hold. Further south, Montgomery will see lows around 51 degrees. In Jackson, temperatures will dip to 57 degrees. New Orleans will remain more mild at 61 degrees. Shreveport is forecasting a low of 63 degrees.

Further east, Jackson, Mississippi, reaches 84 degrees, while New Orleans sees a high of 81. Heading toward the Atlantic coast, Atlanta is set for a high of 77 degrees, with Montgomery, Alabama, not far behind at 73 degrees. Jacksonville will experience slightly warmer temperatures at 79 degrees, while Tampa measures in at 81. In contrast, Charlotte, North Carolina, will remain cooler with a high of just 68 degrees.
A potent cold front sweeps through the Southeast tomorrow, starting early, bringing strong thunderstorms particularly near Memphis and Birmingham by midday. Areas from Shreveport to New Orleans should anticipate heavy rainfall with potential flash flooding. The Storm Prediction Center indicates parts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia are in the Severe Weather Outlook with threats of damaging winds and hail.
