Hi everyone, Amy Freeze here bringing you the detailed weather forecast for Atlanta and surrounding areas. This week, we’re starting off with pleasant skies but beware as we’re expecting a series of changes. A surge of rain from the Gulf will bring showers our way, leading to a diverse week of weather that could include severe storm warnings. Stay informed and prepared by following regular updates and safety tips.
The Southeast regional radar is currently showcasing a dynamic weather pattern. A significant area of rain is advancing from the Gulf of Mexico, moving steadily towards Houston, which is already under a spell of rain. These showers are expected to drift northeast, bringing wet conditions to areas such as Shreveport and eventually reaching the banks of the Mississippi near New Orleans.
In contrast, the skies are mostly clear over central and northern parts of the region, including Memphis and Atlanta, where residents can enjoy mild weather for now. However, these clear conditions are not expected to last, as clouds begin to build over states like Georgia and the Carolinas, hinting at impending precipitation.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville and the surrounding coastal areas of Florida are enjoying a dry spell, with Miami also experiencing clear skies.
“This evening in Atlanta, anticipate mostly clear skies initially, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions as the night progresses. Temperatures will gradually decrease from 66 degrees at 8 PM to 57 degrees by midnight. A gentle breeze from the southeast at 4 miles per hour will maintain a mild atmosphere throughout the evening.”
In the Southeast tonight, temperatures are set to drop into the chilly range. Expect Memphis to cool down to 33 degrees, while Nashville is forecasted to reach 35 degrees. Jackson will see a low of 37, and Montgomery is expected to settle at 36 degrees. Further south, New Orleans will only dip to 68, keeping it much milder. Atlanta anticipates a low of 40, while temperatures in Jacksonville will be around 64 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southeast region tomorrow show a warm trend as spring settles in. Atlanta is forecasted to reach 80 degrees, while Memphis gets up to 79 degrees. In Montgomery, highs soar to an impressive 83 degrees, indicating above-average warmth for this time of year.
Shreveport will see a more mild 69 degrees, and Jackson is expected to hit 77 degrees. Over in New Orleans, temperatures rise to 78 degrees. Moving down to Florida, Tampa is looking at a high of 85 degrees, with Miami following closely at 78 degrees.
“Ahead on the futurecast for the Southeast, expect a dynamic weather day tomorrow. A cold front moves across Texas, bringing a wave of showers and thunderstorms from Houston to Shreveport by early morning. As the front progresses, anticipate strong thunderstorms developing farther east from Jackson to Montgomery on Thursday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center indicates a severe weather risk, including strong winds and heavy downpours. By evening, rain spreads into Atlanta and stretches down to Jacksonville. Be alert for potential flash flooding with the storm’s passage. Afterward, cooler air flows in, helping stabilize the region by Friday.”
The UV index in Atlanta will be very high at a level of 8 on Thursday, with a burn time of 17 minutes in direct sunlight—so take care with hats and sunscreen! On Friday, anticipate a dip to a moderate level of 5.
