A dynamic weather scene is unfolding across the Southeast today, presenting a tapestry of weather patterns. A line of severe storms stretches from Montgomery moving to the east toward Atlanta, with heavy rainbands marching onward. Charlotte is preparing for this soaking as the showers track across the South. Farther south, light rain showers are crossing over from New Orleans towards Jackson while heavier rain is drenching areas closer to Atlanta. Coastal areas around Savannah and Charleston are soon to experience scattered showers moving in from the west. Meanwhile, Tampa and Miami in Florida are enjoying a break from the precipitation under clearer skies. Along the coastlines of Jacksonville, residents are experiencing a temporary relief, but clouds are expected to regroup shortly. The rain system shows its might along the Georgia-to-Carolinas line, with stormy conditions and substantial rain expected to persist through the day.
For this evening in Atlanta, anticipate a cloudy start with temperatures around 54 degrees at 9 PM. A northwesterly breeze at 12 miles per hour keeps the air moving. By 11 PM, skies become partly cloudy, and temperatures gently dip to 52 degrees. As the night progresses to 1 AM, expect clear skies with the temperature reaching 50 degrees. Keep a light jacket handy if you’re heading out!
Nashville will see a low of 34 degrees, while Memphis dips to 33. Montgomery will cool down to 39, and Atlanta is forecasted for 39 as well. Over in Jackson, temperatures will drop to 41. Shreveport is looking at a low of 48 degrees. Further south, New Orleans remains milder at 54 degrees, with Houston also at 54. A notable drop is expected in Savannah at 54, while Jacksonville will see a low of 55. Tampa will stay warm at 59, and Miami rounds out the Southeast with a more mild 64 degrees.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will be heating up significantly with temperatures well above average for this time of year. In Miami, you can expect a high of 83 degrees, making it a perfect day for outdoor activities. Tampa follows closely with a high of 72 degrees, and Jacksonville will see temperatures reaching 76 degrees. Heading into the Gulf Coast, New Orleans will also enjoy a warm day with highs around 76 degrees. Further inland, Jackson, Mississippi, is expected to hit 70 degrees, while Memphis stands cooler with only 60 degrees. Atlanta is looking at a high of 62 degrees, which is a bit below the norm for April. This warm air mass blanketing the region is influencing those rising temperatures, but some areas, particularly in the northern part of the Southeast, may still feel that cool breeze. Keep an eye on the sky as the warm temperatures could lead to developing weather patterns as the day progresses.
A powerful cold front sweeps across the Southeast, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms from New Orleans to Jacksonville. Expect strong storms with the potential for damaging winds and heavy rainfall, particularly from Atlanta to Charlotte. Memphis and Shreveport see milder conditions with less precipitation. As the front advances, significant rainfall accumulates, raising flooding concerns in vulnerable areas. Monitor local weather forecasts closely for advisories. After the front passes, cooler, drier air moves in, offering respite from the stormy conditions.
