Atlanta starts with clarity but don’t let the serene skies fool you. A stormy surprise awaits as conditions elsewhere brew a potent mix, affecting Miami to Houston. Tune into our detailed seven-day forecast to prepare for what the skies have in store, from daily temperatures to storm warnings!
A cluster of severe storms is currently bearing down on Miami, with heavy rain also impacting areas around Tampa. Showers extend along the Gulf Coast, with New Orleans and Houston experiencing scattered rainfall. The clouds are thicker as we move northeast towards Jacksonville, where light rain is expected. Atlanta and Charlotte remain under clear skies at this time, but keep an eye out as conditions may change.
Temperatures in Atlanta tomorrow morning will start at 73 degrees at 8 AM, gradually increasing to 74 degrees by 10 AM. Expect showers throughout the morning with a persistent east wind from 7 to 8 miles per hour. Cloud cover will be significant, contributing to the damp conditions. By midday, temperatures will rise slightly to 76 degrees as the rain continues.
Tomorrow, Shreveport reaches a scorching 96 degrees, while Houston will see warm temperatures around 93 degrees. In New Orleans, expect a high of 89, with Jackson trailing closely at 89 degrees as well. Atlanta will warm up to 82, making it one of the cooler spots in the Southeast. With widespread highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s, most areas will be above average as a heat dome continues to influence the region’s weather.
A cold front will sweep through the Southeast tomorrow, sparking widespread thunderstorms from New Orleans to Savannah. Expect periods of heavy rainfall and gusty winds, especially during the afternoon commute. Isolated severe storms could bring the risk of hail and brief tornadoes, so stay alert. Rainfall totals upwards of 2 inches may lead to localized flooding in urban areas. After the front passes, anticipate cooler, drier air filtering in, bringing relief by Thursday.
The UV index in Atlanta will be a high of 7 on Sunday, with a potential burn time of 20 minutes—be sure to apply sunscreen and wear protective clothing. On Monday, expect a UV index of 8, shortening the burn time to just 17 minutes.
