These rain showers extend eastward, bringing precipitation towards Jackson, Mississippi. Moving farther east, Atlanta and Montgomery are seeing cloud cover, signaling the potential for showers as the system moves in their direction. Meanwhile, areas such as New Orleans and coastal cities like Savannah and Charleston are currently experiencing clearer skies with minimal cloud cover. The activity remains predominantly to the west, gradually approaching central parts of the Southeast.
This afternoon in Atlanta, temperatures will climb into the 80s, topping out at 80 degrees by 5 PM. Winds are coming from the south at around 5 miles per hour, offering a gentle breeze throughout the afternoon. Clouds will be mostly present, transitioning to partly cloudy skies by evening.
Today, we’re seeing some warm temperatures across the Southeast. In Jackson, expect a high of 88 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Shreveport will be close behind at 87, while New Orleans checks in with a warm 85 degrees. Montgomery is right there at 87. Jacksonville will see a high of 81, while Savannah is slightly cooler at 80. Overall, it’s a balmy day with plenty of sunshine across the Southeast!
Low temperatures tonight in the Southeast are shaping up to be quite cool. Memphis is expected to drop to 66 degrees, while Nashville will see a chillier 69. Jackson will hover around 67 degrees, and Montgomery will be slightly cooler at 65. Savannah is looking at a low of 63 degrees, with Jacksonville staying at 64. Expect Tampa to remain mild with a low of 66, but Miami will still enjoy warmer temperatures at 73.
High temperatures across the Southeast tomorrow will be notably warm, with several cities reaching above-average readings. Atlanta is expected to hit 87 degrees, while Montgomery will also see a high of 87. Jacksonville is forecasted at 84 degrees, and Savannah will warm up to 83. New Orleans will have a pleasant day with a high of 85 degrees. Down in Florida, Tampa could reach a sizzling 91 degrees, marking a significant warmth trend for the region.
A low-pressure system will bring increased moisture and instability, sparking thunderstorms from New Orleans to Jacksonville late Wednesday evening. Watch out for stormy weather, including the risk of isolated severe storms with damaging winds, particularly in southern Mississippi and Alabama. Rainfall totals could reach over an inch, which may lead to localized flooding in flood-prone areas. Temperatures in the Southeast will remain warm, with highs in the low 80s, but expect a cooldown by Thursday as a cold front sweeps southeastward, bringing drier and cooler conditions.
The UV index in Atlanta is expected to reach a very high level of 8 on Tuesday, with a burn time of just 17 minutes in direct sunlight. By Wednesday, the index decreases slightly to 7, making the sun still very strong with a burn time of 20 minutes.
