A significant storm system starts this Saturday off with severe weather across northern Florida, including Jacksonville and Tampa, with rain bands extending into southern Georgia. Montgomery and Birmingham are experiencing moderate to heavy rain as these showers track northeast toward Atlanta and the Carolinas. New Orleans, though cloudy, appears to be spared from the heavier precipitation, with lighter rain near this region. Memphis and Charlotte are seeing overcast conditions but generally remain dry for now. The southern Mississippi region and Gulf Coast will see an end to rain showers as they continue to push eastward across the Southeastern states.
Tomorrow morning in Atlanta begins with temperatures at 61 degrees around 8 AM, accompanied by light rain showers. The wind from the east-northeast will be moderate at 10 miles per hour, increasing slightly to 13 miles per hour by 10 AM. Temperatures will cool to 59 degrees as the morning progresses, with rain persisting throughout the morning. Cloud cover will be extensive, keeping the morning damp and breezy.
High temperatures across the Southeast tomorrow are trending above average as warm air settles in. Memphis sees a high of 78. New Orleans is expected to warm up to 78 degrees as well, and Jacksonville will hit a notable 81 degrees. Farther south, Tampa is poised for a hot day with a high of 86 degrees, contributing to the overall warm pattern in the region. Miami will also experience a warm afternoon with temperatures peaking at 85 degrees.
A frontal system brings scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast, particularly affecting areas from Shreveport to Atlanta by Saturday morning. Heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding, especially in urban areas. Thunderstorms could intensify around Jacksonville and Savannah, so keep a weather eye out for possible warnings. Temperatures remain fairly consistent, with highs in the mid-70s to low 80s, but expect slightly cooler conditions post-front. This active pattern persists through the weekend, providing relief from recent dry spells.
The UV index in Atlanta for both Saturday and Sunday will be moderate at 4, with a burn time of about 35 minutes in direct sunlight.
