On the radar, a sprawling rain system is making its way across the southern Mississippi River Valley toward Jackson and Shreveport. A band of moderate to heavy rain is positioned over northeastern Texas, gradually advancing eastward towards Louisiana. New Orleans, poised on the edge of this system, should prepare for incoming precipitation. Meanwhile, Central and Southern Mississippi are experiencing cloudy and breezy conditions as rain approaches from the west. Coastal regions, including Mobile and Pensacola, remain relatively dry for now but are expected to see increasing cloud cover.
Morning temperatures in Atlanta start at a pleasant 64 degrees, rising to 72 degrees by 10 AM. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the morning, with winds coming from the south-southeast around 3 to 5 miles per hour.
Tomorrow, high temperatures in the Southeast are projected to soar above average. Memphis will reach a warm 88 degrees, while Nashville sees a similar high of 88. Further south, Montgomery expects a comfortable 86 degrees, and Jacksonville will have a high of 84. New Orleans will also stay warm at 82 degrees, with Tampa feeling the heat at a sizzling 90 degrees.
A developing weather system brings active conditions across the Southeast on Sunday. Expect showers and storms from New Orleans to Montgomery by midday, extending into Atlanta by late afternoon. Heavy downpours and gusty winds pose a risk, potentially causing localized flooding. Keep an eye on storm watches as the frontal boundary pushes eastward into Savannah and Jacksonville by evening.
In Atlanta, the UV index will be extreme on Saturday with a value of 9, meaning sunburn can occur in as little as 15 minutes without protection. As you make plans for Sunday, expect the UV index to moderate to 6, with a burn time of about 23 minutes in direct sunlight.
For the 7-day outlook in Atlanta: Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies with a warm high of 85 degrees and a low of 60. Monday: Slightly warmer with mostly cloudy conditions, temperatures reaching 86 degrees, dipping to 63 at night. Tuesday: Expect mostly cloudy weather with a cooler high of 78 degrees, a low near 60.
