Across the Southeast, the radar is lighting up with activity mainly concentrated over northern Florida and southeastern Georgia. Jacksonville is at the center of a robust thunderstorm system pushing northeast toward Savannah, bringing heavy rainfall and potential thunder. Meanwhile, the rest of the region, including Charlotte, Atlanta, and Montgomery, is enjoying clear conditions with no significant cloud cover or precipitation. Shreveport and areas heading towards Memphis remain calm under clear skies. New Orleans and Houston are also seeing fair weather, providing a reprieve from any rain.
This afternoon in Atlanta, temperatures will peak at 78 degrees with a southeast wind at 8 miles per hour. Expect mostly cloudy skies transitioning to partly cloudy conditions by later in the afternoon. Keep that umbrella handy just in case the clouds decide to sprinkle a bit!
Memphis tops the chart today with a warm 89 degrees, closely followed by Jackson at the same high. In New Orleans, expect a pleasant 85 degrees, while Houston will be a bit cooler at 84. Montgomery reaches 86, while Atlanta is slightly lower at 79. Over in Florida, Tampa is sizzling with a high of 92 degrees, while Miami sits at a more moderate 82. Notably cooler in Savannah at 77 degrees, providing a refreshing contrast to the rest of the region.
The Southeast will experience mild overnight temperatures with some areas cooler than others. Nashville dips to 66 degrees, while Memphis stays slightly warmer at 69. In Georgia, Atlanta will see a low of 63 degrees, with Savannah matching that at 62. Jacksonville is forecasted for 64 degrees, and Montgomery will be resting at 66. Expect New Orleans to remain warm at 73 degrees, but temperatures begin to drop in the northern parts of the region.
High temperatures in the Southeast for tomorrow are looking quite warm, with many cities experiencing readings above average. Atlanta is expected to reach 80 degrees, while temperatures in Memphis will climb to 87 degrees. By Tuesday morning, showers advance across southern Mississippi and Alabama, affecting cities like Mobile and Montgomery. Temperatures will dip slightly following the storm system, offering temporary relief from the heat. Coastal regions from Tampa to Miami can expect sporadic showers but less severe conditions.
The UV index in Atlanta on Monday will reach a high of 8, indicating strong sun exposure with a burn time of about 17 minutes. By Tuesday, clouds will bring a slight relief with the UV index dropping to 7.
