Across the Southern Plains, the radar shows varied weather activity today. A band of rain is sweeping through from Oklahoma City to Little Rock with heavier showers reaching towards Kansas City. Snow flurries are visible in northeastern New Mexico, just around Albuquerque, moving eastward. Dallas and Jackson are experiencing clearer conditions, but clouds surround these areas. Farther southeast, New Orleans remains under significant cloud cover with some isolated showers developing.
Tomorrow morning in Austin, start your day with temperatures around 70 degrees at 8 AM, accompanied by winds from the west-southwest at 6 miles per hour. Expect thunderstorms in the early morning hours, transitioning to scattered thunderstorms by 10 AM as temperatures slightly dip to 68 degrees with westward winds at 4 miles per hour. By lunch, clouds will dominate the sky with temperatures rebounding to 70 degrees and calm winds continuing from the west at 4 miles per hour.
High temperatures in the Southern Plains are trending above average for tomorrow. El Paso is looking at a pleasant 73 degrees, while Midland reaches a warm 73 as well. San Antonio expects to be the warmest with a high of 84 degrees, and Corpus Christi will hit 82. Dallas sees a cooler high of 67 degrees, compared to Little Rock, which registers 81.
A significant weather system impacts the Southern Plains tomorrow. Early rain showers extend from Dallas to Corpus Christi, bringing beneficial moisture. Oklahoma City faces the potential for stronger storms due to an unstable air mass and an advancing cold front. By afternoon, this front could trigger severe storms, including possible hail and strong winds, especially across northern Texas and southern Oklahoma.
