The Oklahoma City region is currently dry, but light showers are starting to develop to the south around Dallas, pushing towards Little Rock. Clear skies dominate the eastern part of the region, including Jackson and New Orleans. The absence of severe weather is a relief for now, but keep an eye on these developing systems as they shift eastward. Temperatures in Austin this afternoon are warm, starting at 95 degrees, continuing through 6 PM with clear skies and plenty of sunshine. Winds are coming from the south-southeast at 9 to 10 miles per hour, picking up slightly to 12 miles per hour by 8 PM. Expect mostly sunny conditions transitioning to a partly cloudy evening with temperatures cooling to 91 degrees. In the Southern Plains, temperatures are heating up today. San Antonio is feeling the warmth with a high of 97 degrees, while Dallas reaches a hot 93. Midland follows closely at 92 degrees. Over in El Paso, a slightly cooler temperature of 86 degrees is expected. New Orleans stays moderate at 85 degrees, contrasting with the higher temps seen farther inland. Jackson and Little Rock both hit a comfortable 89 degrees, making for a pleasant afternoon across the region. Tonight Dallas is expected to drop to 71 degrees, while Oklahoma City will see a cooler low of 58. Little Rock is on track for 72 degrees, with Jackson dipping down to 69. Midland will continue to stay relatively mild at 61 degrees. Across Texas, El Paso will have a low of 69, and San Antonio remains warmer at 77 degrees. Tomorrow El Paso will reach a sizzling 93 degrees, while Midland hits a high of 95. San Antonio isn’t far behind at 94 degrees, and Corpus Christi sees a pleasant 91. Dallas will warm up to 89 degrees, and Little Rock expects a high of 90 degrees. Additionally, Oklahoma City will reach 78 degrees, which is slightly below average but still comfortable for early June. Looking ahead for tomorrow in the Southern Plains, anticipate a strong line of thunderstorms moving through from Oklahoma City to Dallas. The storms are likely to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and isolated severe weather risks, particularly during the late afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will remain warm, enhancing instability ahead of the front. Areas from Midland to San Antonio could see scattered showers as well. Be prepared for possible weather alerts and plan for potential disruptions during travel. The UV index in Austin for Monday will be extremely high at 11, with a burn time of just 11 minutes, making sun protection essential. On Tuesday, the UV index will remain very high at 10, with a slightly longer burn time of 12 minutes.
