As Austin greets the new day with cloudy skies and light rain, the Southern Plains are buzzing with weather activity. From thunderstorms in Kansas City to light rains blessing the arid terrains of El Paso, each region presents a unique weather scenario. Across the Southern Plains today, we see a dynamic weather pattern in motion. Kansas City is experiencing intense thunderstorms, characterized by heavy rainfall and possibly gusty winds. Rain showers extend south through Oklahoma City, pushing towards Little Rock, where we expect moderate precipitation.
Farther south, Dallas finds itself under cloudy skies, with rain sweeping in from the west. These showers trace back to El Paso and Albuquerque, where they’re seeing light rain, a welcome change for these typically arid areas. Meanwhile, as we look farther east, Jackson is on the brink of a rainstorm that’s heading northward towards Atlanta.
The Gulf Coast, stretching from San Antonio to New Orleans, enjoys relatively dry conditions, though clouds are gathering, foreshadowing wetter weather on the horizon. Corpus Christi and surrounding areas remain quiet under partly cloudy skies.
Tomorrow morning in Austin begins with temperatures at 61 degrees, accompanied by a northwest wind at 10 miles per hour. You can expect rain during the early hours, transitioning to showers by 10 AM as temperatures ease to 59 degrees. By noon, clouds linger with a steady temperature of 59 degrees and a gentle north wind at 11 miles per hour. A wet and cool start sets the tone for the morning.

Overall, the region will benefit from warmer air moving in, though some areas might feel a bit on the cool side compared to the rest.
Expect a dynamic weather scenario across the Southern Plains tomorrow. A strong cold front will push across the region, bringing a mix of conditions. Morning hours will offer dry conditions before rain showers begin to develop from Midland to Dallas, extending down to San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Oklahoma City is at risk for severe weather, with the possibility of strong thunderstorms and damaging winds. Little Rock will experience thunderstorms moving in by the late afternoon, accompanied by heavy rain. Be prepared for rapid weather changes as the cold front progresses eastward through Friday evening, with a cooler air mass settling in behind it.
