Starting with a mild and partly cloudy Wednesday, conditions will quickly shift as rain showers and colder air move in. Showers are intensifying in the Corpus Christi area and are making their way toward San Antonio, bringing substantial rain and the potential for thunderstorms. Farther to the southeast, New Orleans is experiencing pockets of heavy rain as well. Moving northward, scattered showers are also noted near El Paso, while the skies appear mostly clear in Dallas and Albuquerque. Meanwhile, clouds and light rain are developing along the Oklahoma panhandle, hinting at a shift in conditions as the day progresses.
“Austin this afternoon will see changing weather conditions. Temperatures begin at 66 degrees at 3 PM with rain expected. By 5 PM, it cools slightly to 65 degrees with scattered thunderstorms likely, and winds from the east at 8 miles per hour. The trend continues with showers and 63 degrees by 7 PM. Be prepared for wet weather and occasional thunder into the evening.”
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southern Plains. In Texas, El Paso is quite warm at 81 degrees, while Midland will see a high of 72. Heading east, Dallas reaches 75 degrees, and San Antonio is noticeably cooler, with a high of just 66. In Oklahoma, Oklahoma City will experience a pleasant 81 degrees. Over in Arkansas, Little Rock is the standout with a balmy 85 degrees, while to the south in Louisiana, New Orleans checks in at 80 degrees.
Now for the low temperatures, the Southern Plains will experience a noticeable chill tonight. Oklahoma City is looking at a low of 43 degrees, while Dallas will dip to 46. In Texas, Midland will see a low of 61 degrees and El Paso, a bit cooler, will drop to 59. San Antonio is expected to stay warmer with a low of 65. Further east, Little Rock is forecasted to reach 54 degrees, and Jackson will be slightly cooler at 51
Highs for the Southern Plains tomorrow are looking quite warm, particularly for this time of year. In El Paso, expect a high of 86 degrees, well above average for late March. Midland will see a high reaching 85 degrees, making for a warm afternoon. In Texas’ San Antonio, temperatures will climb to 77 degrees, while nearby Corpus Christi also hits 77. Dallas is a bit cooler with a high of 69 degrees, indicating some variability across the region. Little Rock in Arkansas anticipates a high of 75 degrees, which aligns with seasonal norms.
